DDA Launches Year's 3rd Housing Scheme
New Delhi: Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on Tuesday introduced its third housing scheme of the year, Apna Ghar Awaas Yojana 2025, offering 7,500 residential units in several areas, including Narela, Loknayakpuram and Siraspur. The residential units are available at 15-20% discounted rates across various categories, including economically weaker sections (EWS), low income group (LIG), middle income group (MIG) and high income group (HIG) flats. Earlier in Jan, DDA unveiled Sabka Ghar Awaas Yojana 2025 and DDA Shramik Awaas Yojana 2025 at reduced rates. The registrations for flats under the new scheme will commence at 12pm on May 27 and conclude on Aug 26, subject to possible extensions. People can book on the DDA website after submitting the booking amounts of Rs 50,000 for EWS, Rs 1 lakh for LIG, Rs 4 lakh for MIG, and Rs 10 lakh for HIG flats. After launching the scheme, lieutenant governor VK Saxena said on Saturday, "In line with Prime Minister's vision, we are working on ensuring that everyone gets to be a homeowner. DDA has introduced many new features to reduce the hurdles in owning a house in Delhi. According to officials, this service will provide numerous benefits to the public, including round-the-clock citizen support, improved communication and public transparency, offering continuous assistance regarding the housing schemes, applications and allotment inquiries. DDA vice-chairman N Saravana Kumar was also present on the occasion. The residential units offered included 564 LIG flats in Siraspur and 150 LIG and 96 MIG flats in Loknayakpuram. In Narela, the available units consist of 694 EWS, 5,384 LIG, 386 MIG and 226 HIG flats. There will be a 25% discount on the LIG flats at Loknayakpuram, Narela and Siraspur, and a 15% discount on EWS, MIG and HIG flats in Narela and MIG flats in Loknayakpuram. Officials confirmed that the new scheme welcomed all Indian citizens aged 18 or above, operating on a first-come, first-serve basis. "DDA has implemented several buyer-friendly measures over recent years, including an integrated online inquiry portal, enhanced communication with purchasers and comprehensive transfer of property documentation. These steps have strengthened public confidence in the organisation, said officials. "After being in red for over a decade, DDA made a surplus of Rs 1,371 crore at the end of the financial year 2024-25, primarily on account of the unprecedented sale of housing units across all categories at various locations. We have done development works in Narela and invested in various projects to ensure more and more people settle here," an official said.

N Saravana Kumar to be new DDA Vice-Chairman
Senior IAS officer N Saravana Kumar on Wednesday took charge as the Vice-Chairman of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), the agency announced. Kumar is a 2000-batch IAS officer of the Bihar cadre. Before joining the DDA, he served as the Principal Secretary of the Department of Food and Consumer Protection in Bihar. He has held positions in several departments, including Communications and IT, Law and Justice, Education, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Rural Development, and Food and Consumer Protection. He has also served as District Magistrate in multiple districts in Bihar, including Patna. During his time in the state government, he was awarded for his work in disaster management during floods and received four letters of appreciation from the Election Commission of India during elections. As part of the Rural Development department, the state received recognition from the Union Jal Shakti Ministry for water resource management. His presentation on the 'Organic Corridor' scheme was also acknowledged by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the DDA said. Among the major issues Kumar will have to handle are the rejuvenation of the Yamuna floodplains, in-situ slum rehabilitation, the development of the Narela sub-city, sports centres of excellence, and implementation of the PM-UDAY scheme. The Delhi Master Plan 2041, currently being finalised, is also among the key projects on the DDA's agenda.

N Saravana Kumar takes over as vice chairman of Delhi Development Authority
Senior IAS officer N Saravana Kumar on May 1 took charge as the vice chairman of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), the agency said in a statement. A 2000-batch IAS officer from the Bihar cadre, Kumar brings over 24 years of administrative experience spanning sectors such as communications, education, rural development, agriculture, and food and consumer protection. Prior to joining the DDA, he served as the Principal Secretary in Bihar's Department of Food and Consumer Protection, it said. He has served as District Magistrate for nearly a decade in various districts of Bihar, including Patna, and was recognized by the state government for his contribution to disaster management during floods. His extensive administrative experience is expected to significantly benefit the DDA, especially as it undertakes key initiatives such as the Rejuvenation of the Yamuna floodplains, In-situ Slum Rehabilitation, development of the Narela Sub-city, creation of Centres of Excellence in sports, and implementation of the PM-UDAY Scheme. Additionally, his leadership comes at a crucial time as the Delhi Master Plan 2041—set to shape the capital's development over the next 20 years—is being finalized, DDA said in a statement. Born and raised in Madurai, Kumar is a postgraduate in the field of Science.
