Box Office Trends: War 2 (Hindi) set for a good jump on Independence Day; Hrithik Roshan and NTR starrer hits Rs 70 crore in 2 days
After opening at Rs 28.00 crore on Thursday, the Hrithik Roshan and NTR-led War 2 has seen a good jump in collections on Independence Day. As per very early trends, War 2 is tracking to hit the Rs 40 crore mark on the second day, taking two days total around the Rs 70 crore mark in Hindi. While this isn't exactly a great number for a film of this scale on Independence Day, but due to sub-par reports on opening day, there was a fear of muted growth too. The spike in business on the second day will keep War 2 afloat for the weekend, and in the race of hitting the Rs 200 crore mark by the end of its run, though the fate will be decided by the hold in collections from Monday. The jumps today are all across the board – be it the single screens or the multiplexes - for this Hrithik Roshan, and NTR film. It's a jump of almost 50 percent on the second day, coming off a non-holiday, and the film will be looking to stay steady on Saturday and Sunday as well. The apt comparison for a day-on-day trend for War 2 in Hindi should be made with Fighter now, as even that was a Thursday release leading to a National Holiday on Friday, though War 2 has a holiday benefit on Saturday too, which the former didn't have. The Hindi version has started to drive the business of War 2 now, as there is a dip in business down South, and the gap between the two will continue to increase in the days to come. Box Office Trends: Hrithik Roshan and NTR starrer War 2 headed for a Rs 27 crore start in Hindi
The Hrithik Roshan and NTR-led War 2 has opened below expectations in Hindi as the very early trends are indicating first-day business in the range of Rs 26.00 crore to Rs 28.00 crore. The opening has come below expectations, and the hope is on the film to make use of the extended holiday period over the next 3-days to hit a respectable number through the extended weekend. As off 5.30 PM, the Ayan Mukerji directorial has collected Rs 9.75 crore in the national chains including advances for the remaining shows, and is looking for a total closing at Rs 12.75 crore to Rs 13.25 crore. The national chain contribution for War 2 will be around 45 percent to 50 percent, which puts the first day business projection in the above range. The collections were not up-to the mark in the mass belts too, and the eyes are now on the business of War 2 on Independence Day. The early reports from the audience are not in the film's favour, but we will get the real idea of word of mouth based on the theatrical trend in the coming days. War 2 should have definitely taken a bigger start in Hindi, but it's probably the case of assets – teaser, trailer, and music - not landing as well in the cinema-going audience. On the plus, War 2 is flirting to be the number one opening, battling Chhaava, and the trend in the evening and night shows will decide the final outcome. In the era where most production houses opt for corporate bookings and self-buyings, YRF has managed to stay out of the rat race even in a scenario like this, and this deserves a special mention, as the easiest thing to do in this scenario is to buy tickets for the sake of perception. EXCLUSIVE: Hrithik Roshan and NTR starrer War 2 Trailer out next week; YRF and Ayan Mukerji lock the cut
With exactly a month to go for its release, things are heating up around the release of Hrithik Roshan and NTR-led War 2. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 is the sixth film of the ambitious YRF Spy Universe curated by Aditya Chopra. Earlier in May, the makers unleashed an action-packed teaser ft. Hrithik and NTR. And now, come the end of July, Ayan Mukerji and team are all set to launch the theatrical trailer of War 2. WAR 2 trailer out by mid-next week According to sources close to the development, Ayan Mukerji and YRF have locked the trailer cut of this action-packed thriller, and are gearing up to launch it by mid-next week. 'YRF is known to package their trailers to evoke excitement among the audience, and the cut of War 2 is locked with the intent of taking hype and curiosity to another level. The theatrical trailer presents three leads – Hrithik Roshan, NTR, and Kiara Advani at their best, and the team is confident to leave a mark with a near 3-minute cut,' revealed a source. Interestingly, this is also a departure from the strategy of YRF to reveal songs before the trailer. 'It was YRF who started the trend of launching trailer 2 weeks before the release with Pathaan, and now, they are looking to reinvent the wheel by going conventional again, where the trailer precedes their songs,' the source added. The War 2 trailer will be out about 20-days before the release of the film. War 2 is the second instalment of the 2019 blockbuster War, and marks the return of Hrithik Roshan as Agent Kabir after 6 years. War 2 also results in the entry of NTR into the franchise as Agent Vikram, who gets in a fierce face-off with HR as Agent Kabir. The film is slated to hit the big screen on August 14, 2025 in Hindi and Telugu. Besides the 3 key characters, the plot of War 2 has ample of surprises, which could lay foundation for the future timelines of the universe. Six Action Sequences in WAR 2 For those unaware, War 2 has 6 big-scale action blocks shot across the globe and is among the biggest feature films of Indian Cinema. The set pieces aside, team YRF has also shot two songs – one is a romantic number on Hrithik and Kiara, and the other being a face-off between HR and NTR. The music of War 2 is composed by Pritam.
