Health Minister Satya Kumar flags surge in C-sections, seeks better maternal care
VIJAYAWADA: Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav on Tuesday expressed concern over the 41% caesarean delivery rate in secondary government hospitals and urged measures to promote normal deliveries and improve maternal care standards. Addressing District Coordinators of Health Services (DCHSs) at a four-day State-level training in Tadepalli, he said, 'Corruption in any form will not be tolerated.' He launched a mobile app by the Secondary Health Directorate to improve monitoring. Yadav flagged the low number of pre-authorisations under the NTR Vaidya Seva scheme. 'While the share of pre-authorised treatments in government hospitals rose from 15% in June 2023 to 24% in June 2024, it still falls short when compared to private hospitals, which operate at 80–90% efficiency. This gap must be bridged. We need to match the performance standards of the private sector,' he said. He added, 'The public health infrastructure has seen notable improvements. 462 doctors were appointed and facilities such as 149 X-ray machines, 20 dialysis centres, 13 IPHLs, and ultrasound services in 90 hospitals were introduced. Each IPHL offers 139 tests.'ww

CM Naidu inaugurates Andhra's first Digital Nerve Centre in Kuppam
Kuppam (Andhra Pradesh): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday inaugurated the state's first Tata Digital Nerve Centre (DiNC) in Chittoor district, which offers connected, continuous, proactive, and patient-centric healthcare to strengthen public health infrastructure. Linked to 13 primary health centres (PHCs) and 92 village health centres, the Tata DiNC offers 12 primary healthcare services and digitalises patients' health records. "Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the Tata Digital Nerve Centre, the first such facility established in Kuppam," a press release said. The DiNC integrates healthcare facilities and resources across the constituency, improving care through digital tools and standardised health protocols. The initiative promises early diagnosis, personalised counselling, better coordination, improved patient convenience, lower costs, and virtual specialist access at PHCs. In the first phase, DiNC services have been rolled out in Kuppam. They will be expanded across Chittoor district in the second phase and statewide in the third, the release added. "In the second phase, we will integrate all PHCs across the Chittoor district. We will also sync Ayushman Bharat and NTR Vaidya Seva schemes with this initiative," Naidu said. Ayushman Bharat, according to the NHA website, is an attempt to move from a sectoral and segmented approach of health service delivery to a comprehensive, need-based health care service. NTR Vaidya Seva is the flagship health scheme of the state government, aimed at providing quality healthcare to the poor. The TDP chief added that the government is working to extend quality healthcare services while digitising people's health records. He asserted that the Kuppam DiNC will serve as a global model by incorporating cutting-edge technology, including Artificial Intelligence. Naidu also directed officials to use technology to reduce healthcare costs. He noted that the state spends Rs 19,000 crore annually on health and called for steps to bring this down through technology-driven solutions.

1 2 Tirupati: In a landmark development for healthcare, the first-ever digital nerve centre was inaugurated today at Kuppam Area Hospital by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu . This facility aims to integrate patient medical records across hospitals and primary healthcare centres, marking a pioneering step in the state's digital health initiative. Alongside health minister Satyakumar Yadav, the CM linked these PHCs to the centre and directed health officials to expand services. Addressing the public, Naidu said, "In phase two, all PHCs in Chittoor district will be integrated, followed by a statewide rollout. We plan to digitize health histories and enhance medical services by coordinating Ayushman Bharat with the NTR Vaidya Seva scheme. " The CM stressed using technology to reduce healthcare costs, currently Rs 19,000 crore, through data-driven medicine provision, preventive health, and real-time monitoring using cost-effective wearables. Mobile medical units will conduct quarterly blood tests, and health monitoring of pregnant women will be prioritised. The centre links Kuppam Area Hospital with 13 PHCs and 92 Village Health Centres, offering integrated services such as continuous health monitoring, timely diagnosis, specialist consultations, and coordination with government schemes and private hospitals. AP govt disburses `400 cr through CMRF in one year
Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government disbursed a whopping Rs 400 crore through the Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF) in the last one year, thereby helping scores of families in the State. Through the CMRF, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu extended substantial aid to those suffering from serious health conditions. This financial assistance benefitted those who were not covered under the NTR Vaidya Seva scheme. Unlike any previous government, Naidu has allocated massive funds through CMRF, standing by the people in need, officials say. Compared to 2014, the state's financial situation in 2024 is in bad shape. 'The government is struggling to pay even small bills. Despite this, it is balancing welfare schemes and development programmes, launching several initiatives within just one year. In this context, the Chief Minister has been providing aid through CMRF without hesitation. A significant portion of the petitions and grievances submitted to the CM involve requests for CMRF assistance. Recognizing the importance of this, the Chief Minister has established a mechanism to resolve petitions within hours or days,' an official told Hans India For those treated in private hospitals for critical illnesses, the government reimburses expenses through the CMRF. Many families are being financially devastated by unexpected health crises. In such cases, people apply for aid either directly or through MLAs. Poor families who fall into debt due to major illnesses are greatly benefiting from the CMRF's support. According to available statistics, the state government in undivided Andhra Pradesh spent only Rs 758 crore under the CMRF from 2004 to 2014. But after taking over as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in 2014 post-bifurcation, Chandrababu provided Rs 1,533 crore through CMRF over five years, benefiting 2,23,742 individuals across 13 districts. This amount was more than what three Chief Ministers provided over 10 years in the united AP. However, when the YSRCP government came to power in 2019, the support from the CMRF declined sharply. Due to lack of access to the Chief Minister's Office, lack of a system for collecting petitions, absence of MLA appointments, and a generally closed-door approach, most applications did not even reach CM's desk. Between 2019 and 2024, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the then chief minister, released only Rs 897 crore through the CMRF. After returning to power for the fourth time in 2024 with a historic mandate, Naidu started allocating more funds for CMRF. The Chief Minister is also meeting common citizens daily at the Secretariat, personally receiving petitions. Whether at the party office or during district visits, wherever he receives petitions, he immediately instructs officials to act on them. As a result, within just one year, Chandrababu sanctioned around Rs 400 through the CMRF, benefiting 35,000 individuals. Depending on the severity of the medical condition, Letters of Credit (LOCs) are issued immediately to ensure timely treatment. Based on the family's financial condition and the seriousness of the illness, amounts ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 30 lakh are being disbursed to poor people. In the past year alone, 3,354 people have received LoCs worth Rs 89 crore. TDP state president Palla Srinivasa Rao said the Chief Minister took initiative to help ailing people through CMRF funds. He said poor and middle-class families suffer heavily and fall into debt traps due to health issues. Therefore, the Chief Minister is personally disbursing CMRF cheques to the family members of ailing people including those above poverty line. Citing an example, he said that he handed over a cheque for Rs 20 lakh from the CMRF to a poor man in his constituency, Gajuwaka, in Visakhapatnam. Thanking the Chief Minister for sanctioning financial assistance under the CMRF, B Rajeswari, a senior citizen and resident of Vijayawada, who underwent an operation, opined that the timely help from the Chief Minister saved her life.

Naidu govt disburses Rs 400 crore under CMRF in last one year
Vijayawada: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu proved to be generous compared to other chief ministers in giving out aid to needy people from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF). In the last year alone, after becoming the chief minister for the fourth time, Naidu gave out Rs 400 crore, which is nearly half the amount spent under CMRF between 2019 and 2024. The CMRF is intended to help those who were hit with unexpected health crisis and had to spend huge amounts on treatment in private hospitals. Though a large number of procedures are covered under NTR Vaidya Seva, those who are not eligible for the scheme and in cases where people spend huge amounts on specialised treatments not covered in the scheme, people often find themselves in helpless situations. The CMRF is coming to the rescue of those persons, and Naidu surpassed all four chief ministers in terms of assistance provided. Between 2014 and 2019, an amount of Rs 1,533 crore was disbursed to 2,23,742 families. This is more than double the amount spent by three chief ministers between 2004 and 2014 in combined Andhra Pradesh. During the ten-year period in united Andhra Pradesh with 23 districts, including Telangana, the total amount disbursed under CMRF was only Rs 758 crore. Even during the YSRCP regime between 2019 and 2024, the total amount spent under CMRF was only Rs 897 crore for five years, which is only half of what Naidu gave during his previous term. Naidu reached the halfway mark of what was spent in the last five years in just one year by giving aid to 35,000 families. For as many as 3,354 people with medical emergencies, a letter of credit (LoC) was issued to ensure timely treatment. Based on the family's financial condition and the seriousness of the illness, amounts ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 30 lakh were disbursed.
