Caitlin Clark nemesis addresses claims she plays 'dirty' in the WNBA

Caitlin Clark nemesis DiJonai Carrington has spoken out on social media bout claims she plays 'dirty', bashing those who feed into the WNBA narrative about her. The narrative about Carrington reached a fever pitch after Tuesday's game, where her Dallas Wings played the Seattle Storm. Carrington received a flagrant-1 foul after making excessive contact with Skylar Diggins. Last week, Carrington screamed in the face of a referee, who pulled a security guard in between the two, a move the guard said was a 'microaggression.' A hard foul against the Minnesota Lynx also took place last month. 'Yall fans swear I'm such a dirty player,' Carrington said on social media. 'I'm SO over this narrative bc if u really know bball, u know I jus play hard asf & never give up on a play. & yup, we challenged the last couple flagrants & got em rescinded bc I'm ALWAYS tryna make a play on the ball nun more, nun less.' The actions come several months after Carrington, then a member of the Connecticut Sun, poked Clark in the eye during a playoff series against the Indiana Fever. Carrington said the move was unintentional but later made fun of it on Instagram alongside former Clark teammate and girlfriend NaLyssa Smith, who now also plays for the Wings. Back in March, Carrington was a guest on Angel Reese's podcast where she talked about the level of criticism she receives. 'They be real loose at the mouth," Carrington said. I know they think it's trolls, but it's not just trolls. It be people that we see in real life.' Comments on social media for the Wings star go beyond her play on the court. 'I hate when people talk about that, like, "Why do you have blonde hair?" I got black eyebrows. I got black arm hair, black leg hair… and I don't care. I'm still a natural blonde.' Carrington will have her next chance to change the perception about herself on Friday night when the Wings play the Los Angeles Sparks.

Angel Reese Receives Punishment for Actions in Chicago Sky Game

Angel Reese Receives Punishment for Actions in Chicago Sky Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Chicago Sky started this season with four losses in their first five games after going 13-27 last season. On Saturday, they looked to improve their record a bit when they visited the Dallas Wings. Advertisement This matchup was billed days ago as one between Angel Reese, last year's runner-up in the Rookie of the Year balloting, and Paige Bueckers, the No. 1 pick in this year's WNBA draft. But Bueckers was placed in concussion protocol just days ago, which took plenty of the luster away from this game. Yet, there was still some spice to this contest. At one point, Reese got into some extracurriculars with Wings forward NaLyssa Smith, and both women were hit with technical fouls as a result. Reese ended up going just 4-of-13 from the field, although she did finish with nine rebounds and three steals. She has been struggling mightily with her shooting since coming into the league, although she has thus far been a dominant rebounder. Advertisement She has also earned a reputation as a chippy player. In Chicago's season opener two weeks ago versus the Indiana Fever, Caitlin Clark committed a somewhat hard foul on her, and she got up and charged at Clark while talking trash at the Fever star. Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) fouls Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese (5) in the second half at Gainbridge Ruszkowski-Imagn Images On Saturday, the Sky managed to get past the Wings by a final score of 94-83. Ariel Atkins led them with 26 points, while Smith logged 20 points and blocked three shots for the Wings, who are now 1-6 on the season. In a week, the Sky will take on the Fever, this time at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. However, Clark will likely be unable to play due to a strained quad. Dallas lost for the 25th straight time in games scoring 84 points or fewer. Chicago has a week off before hosting the Indiana Fever on June 7. Dallas plays at Seattle on Tuesday for their second matchup of the season.
