No talk of past loves at the family dinner table

Veteran Pakistani actor Nayyer Ejaz, often dubbed the man with a thousand faces, recently peeled back the curtain on his personal life during an appearance on Wasi Shah's talk show. Known for his chameleonic performances across television and film, Ejaz revealed a softer, more reflective side — one rooted in deep respect for his wife and the sanctity of marriage. Though he admits to being a romantic at heart - "I fell in love many times," he confessed with a laugh — Ejaz never let fleeting emotions steer him into impulsive decisions. "I was sensible enough to not marry them because I knew I wouldn't be able to fulfill their needs after marriage." His candor wasn't without cheek, though. When asked if his wife ever taunted him about his past, he grinned and said, "No, she knows I've changed since our marriage ... though I haven't." Ejaz's marriage was arranged — he had neither seen nor met his wife before the wedding. "I told my mother, I'm a colourful man," he said playfully. "If the woman you choose is dull, I'll make a run for it." Luckily, he didn't have to. Today, he beams with pride and affection when speaking of his wife: "She's such a good life partner. I have a great wife." Despite his playful charm and storied past, Ejaz emphasised that he has never disrespected his wife. "I never hurt my wife by my words or actions," he said seriously, adding that when a man is blessed with a loving, caring woman, he should reciprocate in full. Speaking on the topic of men discussing past relationships in front of their wives, Ejaz was firm: "It is disrespectful." He believes in being emotionally intelligent and sensitive - particularly in shared social spaces. "I am a happily married man now," he said. "And I'm conscious of what I say. I won't speak about my past in front of our friends or families." Perhaps most notably, Ejaz flipped the narrative when he said he wouldn't mind if his wife had loved someone before him. "A woman also has the ability to fall in love," he said simply. Ejaz started his acting career in the early 1990s and has appeared in television dramas such as Laag, Dhuwan, and Mor Mahal. He has also acted in films including Na Maloom Afraad, Maalik, and The Legend of Maula Jatt.

'He Ignored My Greeting': Javed Sheikh On Emraan Hashmi's Behaviour On the Sets of 'Jannat'

Javed Sheikh, a veteran Pakistani actor, director, and producer, has been a prominent figure in both Pakistani and Indian entertainment for decades. With his extensive career, Sheikh has become a household name, known for his iconic roles in dramas such as Ankahi and Zindagi Gulzar Hai. His presence in Pakistani cinema is equally impressive, with standout performances in Na Maloom Afraad, Jawani Phir Nahi Ani, and Wrong Number. Additionally, he made his mark in Bollywood with films like Om Shanti Om, Namastey London, Tamasha and Jannat, solidifying his reputation as a versatile actor. Recently, Sheikh appeared on the Ramadan transmission Baran-e-Rehmat, hosted by Pakistani model and actor Omer Shahzad alongside Arsala Siddiqui. During the show, the host asked Sheikh about a character or film that is particularly close to his heart. Sheikh took this opportunity to reflect on some of his most memorable roles, including his work in Na Maloom Afraad, before mentioning Jannat. Jannat is a 2008 Indian crime-sport-drama film, where Emraan Hashmi played the protagonist, while Sheikh took on the role of the villain, Abu Ibrahim. When Shahzad asked Sheikh what it was like working with Hashmi, the veteran actor shared an intriguing story about their first meeting in Cape Town, right before the filming began. Sheikh recalled, "I was on the set of my film with Imran Hashmi in Cape Town. I was sitting on my set when the director introduced me to Emraan Hashmi. I said, 'Assalamu Alaikum.' He rudely behaved with me, ignored my greeting and went away, after that I sat at my seat and didn't talk to him. I was just sitting on my seat when the director came to me and said that you have to do rehearsal with Emraan Hashmi. I then told the director that I am not going anywhere, he will come to me and then the director made him come to me and we did rehearsal. This is how I treated him because of you will respect, you will get it from me.' Sheikh went on to express his shock at how a newcomer like Hashmi, at the time, treated him with such disregard. For someone who has worked with some of Bollywood's biggest stars—Shahrukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan—Sheikh felt that he was due a certain level of respect. As he put it, "They all call me Javed ji." Javed Sheikh added that he doesn't take revenge in a harsh way but instead in a 'soft and stylistic' manner. "That's why I said I will not get up and make my way to him; rather, he will come to me," he explained with a touch of humor. Despite the initial tension, Sheikh mentioned that after around two weeks of not speaking to him, Hashmi eventually approached him personally and began to strike up a conversation.

Mehwish Hayat set to make TV comeback

After almost a decade away from the world of drama serials, Mehwish Hayat will be returning to the small screen. Starring alongside Ahsan Khan and Hira Mani, Mehwish will be portraying a complex character in a serial that promises love, secrets, and suspense. The announcement of the actor's return to dramas has delighted her fans. "She's amazing on screen, gives every role her all," commented a user. "OMG, my favourite onscreen pair will be starring together. I'm super excited!" gushed another. Mehwish last starred in Dil Lagi opposite Humayun Saeed in 2016. In the show, Mehwish played Anmol, who falls into a clash with Humayun's Mohid over an eviction notice. However, affection begins to bloom between the two not long after. In addition, Mehwish has starred in a number of films, including Nabeel Qureshi's debut Na Maloom Afraad and Nadeem Baig's Punjab Nahi Jaungi, cementing herself as a frequent face on the big screen. The Pakistani star even made her Hollywood debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe series Ms Marvel, which also had Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy on board as a director. As of late, the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz recipient starred in the music video for Indian rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh's song Jatt Mehkma. The music video begins with well-to-do individuals and pairs entering a lavish gathering and quickly mingling until their attention is drawn to the hosts descending the stairs - Mehwish and the rapper. The announcement of the collaboration was made in a cheeky behind-the-scenes video, in which the two were dressed in their rich attire from the music video. However, it seems that this is as close to Bollywood as Mehwish will get, as in June last year, she explained why she prefers not to work in the neighbouring industry. "I received many offers from Bollywood, but I declined all of them," she revealed in a podcast. "I have countless opportunities here in Pakistan. I have been part of the revival of Pakistani cinema and some of its biggest and most successful films. I have received immense respect and love in my country," she added. "After gaining so much recognition and success in my own country, I felt that I should not accept offers from Bollywood. I enjoy my work here in Pakistan. People come to watch my films with their families, and that is a great achievement."
