Puff, puff, crash: Smoker slams car in viral clip
KUALA LUMPUR: A motorcyclist's careless habit of smoking while riding ended in a crash that has now gone viral on social media.
The video, which was recorded by a car's rear dashcam, shows the rider negotiating a slight bend before looking down to take a puff from the cigarette in his hand.
He then slammed into the back of the car, causing the rear windscreen to shatter on impact.
The clip was shared by Nadia Zaj on the Facebook group DashCam Malaysia, where it quickly went viral, garnering more than 20,000 views, comments, and shares within hours.
Netizens who saw the post flooded it with criticism, humour, and disbelief.
Azzl Jijoi Manjoi said smokers can trouble others and the environment by causing pollution and littering cigarette butts. Others found a lighter side to the video.
Ha Fiz said, "Soon cigarette packs will need to carry this warning: Smoking causes accidents."
Some social media users suggested that smoking was not the cause of the accident.
Farid said, "He was looking at the phone map in the basket. There are too many cases like this already."
