‘Form-47 mandate' brings about no change: JI chief
LAHORE: Chief Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has urged state institutions to revisit their conduct of imposing corrupt elements on the people, stating that rulers brought through Form 47 cannot bring meaningful change. Addressing the participants of JI central training workshop at Mansoorah on Thursday, he criticized both the government and opposition parties for engaging in a contest of flattery toward former US President Donald Trump, adding that a key backer of Zionist aggression in Gaza has now been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. Rehman said the PPP no longer represents the public but continues its rule in Sindh due to establishment support. 'All lost seats in Karachi were handed over to the PPP and MQM. Without institutional support, PPP could not have secured the mayor's office in Karachi,' he remarked. He highlighted the long-standing deprivation faced by the people of Sindh under PPP rule, noting that despite an education budget of over Rs 450 billion, education in the province is in ruins. 'More than 10 million children are out of school, and there are fake recruitments in educational institutions,' he said. He also condemned the feudal system in Sindh, saying that criminal elements enjoyed protection from tribal chieftains. 'The Sardari system is a cruel relic. People must rise against it. Community committees should be formed to eradicate social evils and drug abuse,' he said, assuring that JI would support every individual who speaks the truth. Rehman emphasized that unlike family-run political dynasties or sect-based religious parties, JI is a movement free of ethnic, provincial, or sectarian prejudice and is devoted to the establishment of Islamic values. 'In our view, politics is a form of worship. We are uniting people for peace, development, prosperity, and the implementation of Islamic governance,' he said. Questioning the integrity of the current political elite, he asked, 'Should politicians involved in the buying and selling of MNAs and MPAs be considered great leaders?' He added the time has passed when dynastic political parties could fool the people, especially the youth. 'Youth support for JI is rising. We believe the solution to our problems lies not in changing faces but in changing the system.' Commenting on the situation in Gaza, the JI leaders said the United States is continuously arming Israel, which he called a 'rampaging elephant' now expanding its aggression to Syria as well. 'If the rulers of the Muslim world were true representatives of their people, Israel would never have dared to commit such atrocities against the people of Gaza,' he said, urging Muslim nations to bring true leadership to power in their respective countries. JI chief warns govt against joining Abraham Accords
LAHORE: Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has warned the government against becoming a party to the Abraham Accords or taking any steps toward recognizing Israel. Any such move, he added while addressing a press conference at Mansoorah on Tuesday, would provoke a powerful resistance movement led by the JI. He condemned Israel's brutal aggression in Gaza, stating that 'backed by the United States, Israel is behaving like a rampaging elephant, crushing humanity.' He criticized the rulers for decades of subservience to the US, saying they are chasing Trump's approval while failing to stand up for the oppressed Palestinians. He called on Islamic and human rights–oriented nations to adopt a clear and uncompromising stance against Israeli aggression and American support for it. The JI chief announced the re-launch of protests and demonstrations against rising petrol and electricity prices, promising to unveil a detailed plan of action within the next two days. He warned that if the government fails to provide relief to the people, the protests could escalate into a full-scale movement to topple the government. Rehman criticized the absence of local government structures in Punjab and Balochistan, and condemned the poor performance of rigged local governments in Sindh and Balochistan. He said the Form-47 installed rulers are hoarding all power and resources while refusing to devolve authority to grassroots levels. 'The so-called major ruling and opposition parties, who chant the slogan of democracy, have shown no interest in empowering local governments,' he said. He announced that after welcoming 2 million new members, Jamaat-e-Islami has initiated the formation of 30,000 public committees across the country. Once this target is achieved within the next month or so, the party will announce its next course of action. In response to a question on the race for reserved seats, he said all major parties — both government and opposition — have disregarded democratic and ethical principles, grabbing seats that rightfully belong to PTI. He reiterated JI's longstanding stance that these seats belong to PTI and recalled that the party had opposed the controversial 26th constitutional amendment, which he said weakened the judiciary. 'Opposition parties that supported the amendment have tarnished their legacy,' he said. He added that Karachi and Sindh are under the grip of a rotten 'system' that has now been shifted to Islamabad. 'Fake rulers have been imposed on the nation through Form-47. 'In Karachi, where MQM couldn't even win a single polling station, all seats were distributed between PPP and MQM. Today, the city has no one to speak for its people,' he lamented, pointing to the recent building collapse that killed 27 people, with debris still uncleared. He demanded that the opposition raise its voice over real public issues and questioned the government's performance in education and healthcare. 'In Punjab alone, 13,000 schools have been outsourced. The education budget of over Rs2,000 billion is being lost to corruption.' Answering journalists' questions, Rehman criticized the Punjab Assembly Speaker's move to disqualify public representatives, calling it undemocratic. He expressed concern over reports extrajudicial killings in Punjab, saying such actions have no place in any civilized society. He said the Punjab government has played a destructive role in the collapse of agriculture and the ruin of small farmers. Calling Hamas a symbol of legitimate resistance, he declared that Israel has failed both in Gaza and in its designs against Iran. He praised Iran's consistent refusal to recognize Israel, referring to it only as 'Occupied Palestine.' He urged Pakistan's rulers to show similar moral courage. Rehman rejected any two-state solution as a part of Pakistan's policy on Palestine and criticized leaders who issue pro-Trump statements for political gains. 'Let them tell us — what came of Trump's offer to mediate on Kashmir?' he asked, adding that US history is a record of hypocrisy and betrayal. He reiterated Jamaat-e-Islami's principled position that any dialogue or mediation on Kashmir outside the framework of the right to self-determination is unacceptable. ‘JI will resist compromise on Kashmir'
RECORDER REPORT: Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman has said that if the government and the establishment compromise on Kashmir to appease Trump, the nation will resist. He said the govt & opposition are engaged in politics of personal gain rather than principles and both come together like close allies when it comes to serving their own interests. He said they are united on Bajwa's extension & on increasing their own salaries. In Karachi, establishment prevented JI from having its mayor elected & imposed PPP mayor instead, he said. Those who trade Kashmir for business and dollars will be made a lesson by the nation, he said and added despite being repeatedly deceived by India, the rulers continue to fall for its traps. Hafiz Naeemur Rehman expressed these views during the concluding address at a training session for party workers from Sheikhupura and Nankana districts, held at Mansoorah, Lahore. He said the American stooges have halted work on the Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline, while Iran has already completed its part. Had the rulers truly cared about the people's hardships, the Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline would have been completed by now, and oil would also be imported from Iran, he said. Hafiz Naeemur Rehman stated that mega corruption scandals have already emerged in KP and Punjab, while Sindh has long been self-sufficient in corruption. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the PTI government is in its 12th year, yet there is still no proper rescue system for those who drown in the Swat River. Politics has been hijacked by feudal lords, landlords, and capitalists. They come to power with the support of the establishment, and when they lose power, they start criticizing it, he elaborated. He said that Pakistan is facing a governance crisis. The entire judicial system is held hostage. Fake verdicts are obtained from the Supreme Court to serve political interests. Through a shameful decision, the Supreme Court distributed reserved seats among the ruling alliance, even though those seats rightfully belonged to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), he said. Now it remains to be seen whether those who talk about principled politics will accept these seats or not, he added. He added that Jamaat-e-Islami's mandate was stolen in the general elections. Several of their won seats were given to other parties. The mayorship of Karachi was also stolen, said Hafiz Naeemur Rehman. He added that Syed Ali Geelani endured imprisonment and hardships for the freedom of Kashmir and spent his entire life fighting Pakistan's cause, yet our rulers never gave him the recognition he truly deserved. He stated that our ruling elite is afraid that if the real heroes are brought to light, there will be no place left for the fake ones. He further said that Emir Jamaat-e-Islami in Indian-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. Abdul Hameed Fayaz, Asiya Andrabi, her ailing husband Qasim Faktoo, Yasin Malik, the ailing Shabir Shah, and hundreds of other leaders of the freedom movement have been imprisoned in Indian jails for years. Yet, the government of Pakistan is not raising their plight on any forum, which is not only regrettable but also condemnable, he concluded. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025

JI urges govt to convene emergency OIC summit on ME
LAHORE: Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has urged the government to immediately convene an emergency summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Islamabad, in light of the deteriorating situation in the Middle East. Speaking at Mansoora on Friday, he stated that the recent acts of aggression in Gaza and Iran are being carried out under the patronage of the United States — a country he described as an enemy of the Muslim world. He stressed that the Muslim Ummah, along with peace-loving nations, must urgently adopt a joint strategy to counter US-Israeli aggression. 'After wreaking havoc in Iraq and Afghanistan, the US now appears determined to replicate the same destruction in Iran,' said Rehman. 'It [the US] continues to support India's blatant human rights violations in occupied Kashmir. Without Washington's backing, Israel holds no power — and yet, despite overwhelming international support for a ceasefire in Gaza, the US vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution aimed at ending the conflict. This is a deliberate push toward global warfare.' The JI chief reaffirmed that the people of Pakistan stand firmly with the people of Iran. He called on governments of Muslim countries to reject fear of American pressure and boldly represent the sentiments of the Ummah. Criticizing Islamabad's silence, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman noted that despite clear threats of an expanding war — including Israel's attacks on Iran and the US signalling deeper military involvement — the government has failed to take concrete steps. 'The entire Muslim world is looking to Pakistan for leadership,' he said. 'Islamabad must rise to the occasion and play a decisive role on the issues of Gaza and Iran. If the flames of war continue to spread, it will not only engulf the Middle East but also South Asia and beyond — a catastrophe that will be impossible to contain.' Rehman called on Muslim nations to set aside individual interests and unite for the collective good of the Ummah. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025

Kashmir dispute: JI advocates participation of Kashmiris in talks
LAHORE: A Jamaat-e-Islami's Central Majlis-e-Shura resolution while stressing immediate start of negotiations on Kashmir issue and including the real party Kashmiris in the dialogue process has demanded Pakistan to adopt a clear stance that no solution to Kashmir dispute is acceptable without the participation and will of the Kashmiri people. In result of the inclusion of the real party the dialogues will be more effective and result oriented, the resolution said, adding if this is not happened then the peace of South Asia will be destroyed due to the confrontation of the two nuclear armed powers and its effects will last for a long time. The resolution was presented by Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Jammu and Kashmir Dr Muhammad Mushtaq Khan. The three-day meeting of the newly elected Majlis-e-Shura chaired by Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman concluded on Sunday at Mansoorah. The Shura declared that India only understands the language of power and not negotiations. The resolution says that it has been proved in the recent war that India wanted to divert the world attention from Kashmir. It said India considered itself powerful but Pakistan's timely response not only resulted in its humiliation but also exposed its disgusting character at the international level. The resolution says that Pakistan in these circumstances instead of expressing any kind of weakness should speed up its efforts at diplomatic and armed front in favour of legitimate right of Kashmiris. It said that this is the opportunity for securing which the nations have to wait for years. It said that the Kashmiris expectations have been increased due to the excellent opportunity granted by Almighty Allah to Pakistan. At any level of negotiations the first and unwavering demand would be that India should restore prior 5th August 2019 (Article 370 and 35-A) position so that the Kashmir dispute should remain as dispute in front of the world. The Shura demanded that Pakistan should stress that if respect for the international peace, principles and justice is required then the Kashmiris should have to be given the right to self-determination, which has been guaranteed several times by United Nations Security Council (UNSC). The resolution says Pakistan and India temporarily agreed on ceasefire due to international pressure but India is an unpredictable country which has never fulfilled its promises. The resolution says that Pakistan while participating in any negotiation process should demand that India should end military siege of Jammu and Kashmir while considering it a basic issue. It said that India should end the human rights violations and allow entry of the human rights organizations and independent media in the state. The Kashmiri leadership incarcerated in detention centers from last many years should be released, India should quit efforts to construct damns to limit Pakistani share of water while respecting the Indus Water Treaty (IWT). The resolution says in the negotiations the international monitoring and mediation of IWT should be stressed. The resolution says that the meeting hopes that Pakistan will not let go in waste the best opportunity of freedom of Jammu and Kashmir. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025
