The model is being implemented under the guidance of Director,
, and Head of Division, Nagendra Rai, successfully.
To review the model,
, Director General of the Uttar Pradesh Council of Agricultural Research (UPCAR), Lucknow, along with Parmender Singh, Deputy Director General, visited the institute on Thursday and appreciated the progress of the project. Sanjay Singh said that this integrated farming system is capable of strengthening the livelihood of small and marginal farmers.
The system developed by the institute integrates diverse components such as aquatic vegetable production like water chestnut, lotus, water spinach, vegetable seed production, livestock rearing, poultry farming, vermicomposting units, and beekeeping, thereby creating multiple sources of income.
The principal investigator of the project and Principal Scientist, Rakesh K Dubey, said that under this vegetable-based integrated farming system, farmers are able to generate an annual income of up to ₹6.5 for every ₹1 invested per acre.
In addition to this, the model also ensures nutritional security, better utilisation of resources, and water conservation. Selected farmers under the project will also receive technical guidance and training.
By adopting this model, farmers can significantly improve their economic condition.
The Director General of UPCAR suggested that this model should be replicated in other districts of the state, and cluster-based training programmes should be organised to reach a larger number of farmers. He expressed satisfaction with the project's performance, congratulated the team, and termed it a strong step toward self-reliance in agriculture.
