Railways adds extra coaches for summer travel rush
Madurai: Southern Railway has announced the augmentation of an extra coach in select trains to clear the extra rush during the summer holidays. According to a statement, one additional sleeper class coach has been provided on a temporary basis to train No. 12694 Tuticorin - Chennai Egmore Pearl City Express from May 13 to 15, train No. 12693 Chennai Egmore - Tuticorin Pearl City Express from May 14 to 16, train No. 16343 Thiruvananthapuram Central - Madurai Amritha Express from May 14 to 15, and train No. 16344 Madurai - Thiruvananthapuram Central Amritha Express from May 15 to one sleeper coach has been augmented to train No. 22657 Tambaram - Nagercoil Express on May 14 and to train No. 22658 Nagercoil - Tambaram Express on May another statement, railways announced a one-minute stoppage at Kallidaikurichi railway station for train No. 16791/16792 Tuticorin – Palakkad – Tuticorin Palaruvi Express with effect from May 15. Andhra man arrested for sexually assaulting minor on moving train in Tamil Nadu
A 29-year-old man from Andhra Pradesh has been arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (Pocso) Act for sexually allegedly assaulting a 9-year-old girl on a moving train near Jolarpettai in Tamil incident took place on Monday evening aboard the Nagercoil Express. The child's family, who are from Salem, were returning home after a temple visit in Kadapa. The train had crossed Katpadi station and was nearing Jolarpettai when the incident girl's father reportedly heard her screams and immediately alerted railway police. The accused, Kumar, was arrested and is currently in police custody, confirmed Railway SP Eswaran. In Febraury, a four-month pregnant woman was allegedly sexually assaulted and pushed off of a train in Tamil Nadu. One person was detained by the police in connection with the woman, who was travelling to Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh, was sexually assaulted by two men in the early hours of Friday near Jolarpettai in Tirupattur district. The woman was going to the train washroom when the two men waylaid her. Temporary augmentation of trains, additional stoppages announced
An additional sleeper class coach has been provided in the following trains to clear extra rush of passengers: Train No. 12694 Thoothukudi-Chennai Egmore Pearl City Express would be augmented from May to 15; Train No. 12693 Chennai Egmore-Thoothukudi Peal City Express from May 14 to 16. Additional coach would be provided in Train No.16343 Thiruvananthapuram Central - Madurai Amritha Express on May 14 and 15 and in Train No. 16344 Madurai - Thiruvananthapuram Central Amritha Express on May 15 and 16. Additional coach in Train No. 22657 Tambaram - Nagercoil Express would be provided on May 14 and in Train No. 22658 Nagercoil - Tambaram Express on May 15, a statement said. Additional stoppage Southern Railway will provide additional stoppage for one minute for two trains on an experimental basis. Train No. 12605/12606 Chennai Egmore – Karaikudi – Chennai Egmore Pallavan Superfast Express will stop at Pennadam for a minute on both directions. The Chennai Egmore – Karaikudi train will stop at 7.01 p.m. and leave at 7.02 p.m. with effect from May 15. In the return direction, the Karaikudi-Chennai Egmore train will stop at Pennadam at 8.27 a.m. and leave at 8.28 a.m. Train No. 16791/16792 Thoothukudi – Palakkad – Thoothukudi Palaruvi Express will stop at Kallidaikurichi station with effect from May 15. The Thoothukudi-Palakkad train would stop at Kallidaikurichi at 11.21 p.m. and leave at 11.22 p.m. In the return direction, the train would stop at Kallidaikurichi at 3.45 a.m. and leave at 3.46 a.m.
