Kingdom welcomed two million Indians last year
Thailand welcomed over 2 million Indian tourists in one year for the first time in 2024, says the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), which recently organised the "Asean-India Forum" to cement ties. Held under the theme of "Journey of Opportunities: Ignite Indian Travel to Asean" from July 22 to 25 in Bangkok, the forum welcomed distinguished guests, including Nagesh Singh, Ambassador of India to Thailand, and representatives of Malaysia and other Asean countries. Deputy Governor for International Marketing at TAT, Pattaronong Na Chiangmai, said tourism ties between Thailand and India are improving. "In 2024, Thailand welcomed over 2 million Indian tourists for the first time, placing India among our top three inbound markets," he said. Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia ranked among the top destinations for Indian travellers in 2023. Santosh Kumar, country head for the Indian sub-continent and Indonesia at said: "Indians are enthusiastic travellers who are willing to invest money and efforts to have transformative experience around their interest during their trips." The hospitality businesses can attract more Indian tourists through value-added deals, such as last-minute promotions, to create appeal among Indian tourists and further cement the popularity of this country as a travel destination, he said.

Thousands celebrate International Yoga Day across Southeast Asia
Bangkok: Several Southeast Asian nations, including Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam, celebrated the International Day of Yoga (IDY) on Saturday, emphasising Yoga for unity and sustainability. More than 4000 participants from different walks of life in Thailand celebrated the 11th IDY at the iconic ground of Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok. 'Over 4000 participants from different walks of life performed the Yoga Protocol in unison, reflecting the spirit of 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health'. It was the culmination of the celebrations to commemorate 10 years of IDY. In Thailand, this milestone has been marked by more than 30 yoga events held in different parts of the country over the past 100 days,' Indian Embassy in Bangkok posted on X. Addressing the event, Indian Ambassador to Thailand Nagesh Singh in his welcome remarks highlighted the role of yoga in promoting physical, mental, and environmental wellbeing, which align with global call for unity and sustainability. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, and Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University participated in the event. They encouraged people to embrace yoga for physical and emotional wellbeing and sustainable living and highlighted how the growing popularity of yoga in Thailand has brought the people of the two countries even closer. The 2025 theme, 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health,' has emphasised the connection between personal well-being and planetary health, aligning with India's broader vision of global harmony through traditional wisdom. In Cambodia, the 11th IDY was celebrated in front of the iconic Buddhist temple, Botum Vatey Monastery in Phnom Penh. Arunachal showcases agro products at Thaifex Anuga Asia to boost ASEAN trade ties
1 2 Itanagar: In a push to promote Arunachal Pradesh's agro and processed food sector internationally, a high-level ministerial delegation from the state is participating in Thaifex Anuga Asia at Bangkok. The delegation's participation in the international event is being supported by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC). The visit aims to explore trade opportunities, attract investments, and establish technology partnerships, particularly in indigenous agri-products like kiwi, mandarin oranges, large cardamom, and fruit wines.
