Telugu films shine with 7 awards at 71st national film awards
Hyderabad: Telugu cinema made a mark at the 71st National Film Awards, 2023, bagging seven honours across various categories. Two awards each were won by the films Hanu-Man and Baby.
In the feature films category, Hanu-Man was adjudged "best film" in the AVGC (animation, visual effects, gaming, and comics) category. Choreographer Nandu Prudhvi won the "best action direction (stunt choreography)" award for the same film.
Sukriti Veni Bandreddi was named best child artiste for her performance in Gandhi Thatha Chettu.

Baby won two key awards — "best male playback singer" for PVNS Rohit for the song Premisthunna, and "best screenplay (original)" for Sai Rajesh Neelam.
The award for "best lyrics" went to Kasarla Shyam for the song Ooru Palleturu from Balagam.
Bhagavanth Kesari (I Don't Care), starring Nandamuri Balakrishna and produced by Shine Screens (India) LLP, was named "best Telugu film" under the "best feature films in different languages" category.
Reacting to the honour, director Anil Ravipudi said, "This win is for every daughter who dares to dream big and roar louder."
Films in other regional languages, including Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, and Tamil also won accolades at the national awards.
