OTT partner threatens ₹10 crore cut for the delay in the release of Dhanush starrer 'Kuberaa', reveals producer
'Kuberaa,' a high-profile pan-Indian socio-drama directed by Sekhar Kammula , is set to hit theatres on June 20, 2025. Featuring an ensemble cast including Dhanush, Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna, Jim Sarbh, and Dalip Tahil , the film was initially slated for an April release but faced delays due to post-production demands. Shot in both Tamil and Telugu, with dubbed versions in Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi, 'Kuberaa' promises to be a gritty exploration of power, ambition, and consequence. Producer alleges ₹10 crore threat from Prime Video However, producer Suniel Narang has raised serious concerns about the growing influence of OTT platforms on theatrical schedules. In a recent interview with Gulte, Narang revealed that Amazon Prime Video, Kuberaa's streaming partner allegedly threatened to slash their deal by ₹10 crore if the film wasn't released on the pre-agreed date of June 20. This, he says, reflects a troubling shift in power where digital platforms now dictate release timelines. Post-production plea rejected by OTT Partner Suniel Narang shared that despite requesting a few extra weeks due to post-production delays, the platform was unwilling to budge. 'I requested a July date, but they said they'd deduct ₹10 crore if we missed the June 20 release. It all goes according to their will now,' he said. According to Narang, Telugu films typically land on OTT within 28–30 days, giving producers little room to maneuver when delays occur. Will the digital release of 'Kuberaa' be affected? Suniel Narang further voiced frustration about the industry's dependency on external platforms. 'People talk about cutting actors' pay. Why should we? Out of 145 crore people, we have barely 50 superstars. They are gods. The problem isn't them—it's everything else. These other entities profit regardless of whether a film succeeds or not,' he added, hinting at a deeper imbalance in today's filmmaking ecosystem. We have to wait to see whether Suniel Narang's revelation about the OTT partner's quarrel will affect the film's digital release or not.

Elevated corridor with rotary proposed as alternative to AB Road flyovers
Indore: The proposed solution of six flyovers and one grade separator on AB Road between MR-9 and Naulakha may not solve Indore's traffic woes, according to the Indore Utthan Samiti (Indore Upliftment Committee). After extensive surveys, on Friday, they presented an alternative of a rotary-equipped elevated corridor that would allow for smooth traffic flow both above and below. Currently, Indore Development Authority (IDA) surveys are underway for six flyovers and one grade separator along the 5.5 km stretch of AB Road between MR-9 and Naulakha. While these structures would cover 63% of the road, the committee warns that their gradients could cause inconvenience to the public and fail to make intersections signal-free. During a presentation at the IDA auditorium, the committee showcased its 3D presentation outlining its alternative proposal. The Committee President, Ajeet Singh Narang, explained that flyovers would lead to driver difficulties due to steep gradients and short distances between intersections, forcing vehicles to ascend one flyover immediately after descending another. This could increase accident risks and prevent vehicles from maintaining optimal speeds. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Eat 1 Teaspoon Every Night, See What Happens A Week Later [Video] getfittoday Undo Instead, the committee suggests an elevated corridor from MR-9 to Naulakha. This design would incorporate rotaries at key intersections like Naulakha, Shivaji Vatika, and LIG Chouraha, allowing vehicles to move freely in all four directions. Narang believes this elevated solution would ensure smooth traffic for the next 30 to 40 years on AB Road. The meeting was attended by IDA CEO RP Ahirwar, Abhyas Mandal Vice President Ashok Kothari, structural engineer Deepak Shah, and senior members of the committee. Narang highlighted that the committee, comprising senior engineers, businessmen, and city experts, not only surveyed Indore's intersections but also visited other Indian cities. They observed that cities like Bengaluru, Nagpur, Chennai, Tirupati, Palanpur, and Jabalpur are successfully implementing rotary-equipped elevated corridors on high-density roads. The committee also advised against constructing underpasses at Shivaji Vatika and Naulakha. They argued that underpasses in urban areas are often problematic, leading to waterlogging during monsoons and posing maintenance challenges. The committee advocated for focusing on elevated structures using modern technology to reduce fuel consumption and pollution. UPPCL denies favouritism, calls allegations ‘baseless'
The Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) and its employees' union are locked in a fresh face-off over the selection of Grant Thornton as a consultant for power sector reforms, with the management dismissing allegations of irregularities as 'misleading and baseless'. While the UPPCL said no decision had yet been taken on a separate September 2024 tender aimed at improving financial accounting standards at the division level, the Vidyut Karmachari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti alleged that the process was deliberately delayed to favour Grant Thornton. It was alleged that despite no final decision, the firm had advertised accountant positions in December 2024, mentioning work locations across multiple U.P. discoms. The committee alleged a 'major scam' in the name of privatisation and demanded the sacking of UPPCL director (finance) SK Narang, accusing him of colluding with private firms. It also questioned why the September 2024 tender, in which Grant Thornton reportedly emerged L1 in technical bidding, was kept on hold for months. Responding to the charges, Narang, in a written statement, said the tender in question was unrelated to the reforms consultancy and aimed purely at improving accounting quality under Ind-AS norms. 'Both tenders serve distinct purposes and no decision has been taken yet. All actions are in line with due process,' he said.

3 behind 76 e-fraud cases held, ‘kingpins in Dubai & Cambodia'
Navi Mumbai: Three history-sheeters suspected to have been involved in 76 cyber fraud cases in different states have been arrested by Navi Mumbai crime branch's central unit as part of its probe into a 58-year-old Nerul doctor being cheated of Rs 1.8 crore after being put in a month-long digital arrest. Police suspect the racket's masterminds are operating from Dubai and Cambodia. The accused allegedly set up a rental office to execute their con under the guise of operating a startup, and even procured a shop licence and other mandatory documents, which enabled them to open fake bank accounts after verification by bank officials. Two of the three history-sheeters—Andheri resident Ramesh Shet (45) and Amish Shah (42) from Kalbadevi —were arrested on April 18. The third, Rajkumar Narang (55), who hails from Ahmedabad, was arrested on May 23. All three have been remanded in police custody. Police have invoked relevant sections of BNS for organised crime, forgery and criminal conspiracy. DCP (crime) Amit Kale said a fraudster, posing as an I-T official, called up the doctor via WhatsApp in Jan and told her that Delhi police had lodged a complaint against her over Rs 8.6-lakh income tax dues of a firm registered in her name. "The fraudster kept her under digital arrest for one month and sent her fake letterheads of CBI, ED and Supreme Court for initiating legal action against her," said Kale. Under the pretext of RBI verification of her bank and investment accounts, the fraudster coerced her into transferring Rs 1.8 crore to six bank accounts, he said. When the caller went incommunicado after these transfers, the doctor realised that she had been conned and approached police. A police officer told TOI that in the fraudsters' gang, Shet and Shah's role involved opening fake bank accounts to transfer victims' money, while Narang served as a coordinator. Once an account's internet banking facility was activated, Narang increased the transaction limit to enable transfer of more than Rs 25 lakh in one go, said the officer. Police have recovered Rs 11.4 lakh in cash, apart from a laptop, 18 phones, cheque books of 18 banks, 32 debit cards, 33 cheque book leaves of different banks, 27 SIM cards, two bank passbooks, eight rubber stamps of 10 bogus companies, and documents submitted to open 36 bank accounts of the fake companies.
