The family of a woman who died after being found injured in a street have paid tribute to "an amazing woman who everyone loved".Leicestershire Police said Ellen Cook was found in Biddle Road in Littlethorpe, near Narborough, on Sunday evening, where the 72-year-old was pronounced dead at the family said in a statement: "She was a wonderful woman, so positive, and she saw the best in everyone and everything. She always put others before herself and the family will miss her forever."Daniel Cook, 39, of Atkinson Road in Ashby, appeared at Leicester Crown Court on Thursday after being charged with murder. He is next due to appear at the same court on 21 July.

Murder probe launched after woman found in Littlethorpe street

Police have launched a murder inquiry after a woman was found injured in a village street. Officers were called to Biddle Road in Littlethorpe, near Narborough in Leicestershire, on Sunday at about 21:25 BST, where the woman was pronounced dead. A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody, Leicestershire Police said. Det Chf Insp Mark Sinki, who is leading the investigation, said the incident was "isolated" and added police were not looking for anyone else in connection with it. Biddle Road between Sycamore Way and Bingley Road remains closed, the force said. Police added detectives are in the process of carrying out house-to-house inquiries and collating CCTV footage. Formal identification of the victim has not taken place and a post-mortem is due to be carried force said her family were being supported by specialist officers. Mr Sinski, from East Midlands special operations unit murder investigation team, said: "Officers will remain at the scene as our investigation progresses, and we continue to investigate the full circumstances of what happened."I appreciate that the nature of the incident may cause some concern among residents in the area.
