A Chemung County grand jury has indicted a town of Erin resident on more than two dozen felony counts after a raid at his home allegedly turned up multiple weapons, explosives and drugs. Robert R. Budnick, 42, was indicted on 28 charges in connection to a Feb. 4 search of his 61 Staples Road residence by the New York State Police Troop E Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team. The charges handed down include: One count of second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance One count of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance Five counts second-degree criminal possession of a weapon 20 counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon One count of third-degree unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine The search, which capped a three-month probe by state police investigators, uncovered four ounces of methamphetamine oil, about one ounce of crystal methamphetamine, scales and packaging materials for narcotics and $4,700 in cash, authorities said. Investigators said they also recovered 20 firearms — including three assault rifles (an AK-47, an AR-10 ghost gun and an SKS), eight bolt action rifles, one lever action rifle, and eight shotguns, including two that were sawed off. Police also seized 11 high-capacity ammunition magazines and about 10,000 rounds of assorted ammunition.
