News18 Operation Sindoor Poll: Rahul Gandhi's ‘Narender Surrender' Barb Boomerangs

Last Updated: When asked, 'Is the remark 'Narender Surrender' in good taste?', a massive 87.55% of the respondents have answered 'No', with only 12.45% picking 'Yes' The Congress and its MP Rahul Gandhi have been trying to corner Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government over the ceasefire agreement with Pakistan following India's anti-terror Operation Sindoor. The results of a News18 public poll, however, indicate overwhelming support for PM Modi and aversion for the Congress's tactics. Rahul Gandhi has used the slogan 'Narender Surrender" to allege that PM Modi 'surrendered" and stopped the attacks after a call from US President Donald Trump. The Congress also shared a two-panel cartoon on social media site X: the first showed Trump yelling 'Narender, surrender" into the phone, and the second showed Modi saying 'yes, sir". Even as Trump has claimed on multiple occasions that he had a role in the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, the Indian government has maintained that the operation was paused at the request of Pakistan and no third party was involved in the process. India launched precision strikes aimed at terror establishments in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir under the codename Operation Sindoor on May 7 as a response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 people. When asked, 'Is the remark 'Narender Surrender' in good taste?", a massive 87.55% of the respondents answered 'No", with only 12.45% picking 'Yes". The poll by News18 was conducted over two days, May 6 and May 7, 2025, using state-of-the-art software. It was held on News18's websites and social media platforms, and also via television channels using QR codes. A total of 14,671 responses were collected. ‎ To the question, 'Do you believe that PM Modi has consistently taken a strong stand when it comes to national security?", a whopping 88.06% of the respondents replied 'Yes", while just 11.94% picked 'No". BJP leaders have hit out at Rahul Gandhi over his tactics, with party national president JP Nadda accusing the Wayanad MP of 'treason" as well as insulting the valour and courage of the armed forces. 'Rahul Gandhi calling the unmatched valour and courage of the Indian Army a 'surrender' is not only unfortunate but also a grave insult to the Indian Army, the nation and 140 crore Indians. If any Pakistani had said this, we would have laughed at him, but after the way Operation Sindoor wreaked havoc in Pakistan, no one from the people of Pakistan to its army and even its Prime Minister dared to say this, but Rahul Gandhi is saying this! This is nothing less than treason," Nadda said. First Published: June 07, 2025, 17:38 IST

Congress's fresh 'Narender surrender' salvo at PM features Trump's red MAGA cap

The Congress on Thursday doubled down on its attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, intensifying the row triggered by Rahul Gandhi's 'Narender surrender' jibe. The fresh salvo came in the form of a social media post featuring US President Donald Trump's iconic red 'Make America Great Again' cap, emblazoned with the words 'Narender Surrender' - a pointed reference to Gandhi's allegation that PM Modi agreed to a ceasefire with Pakistan following a call from controversy erupted on Tuesday when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, speaking at the launch of the party's Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan in Bhopal, claimed that the PM had succumbed to pressure from the United States. "Trump made one gesture from there (the US), picked up the call and said 'Modiji, what are you doing? Narender surrender'. And Modiji said 'yes sir' and followed Trump's instructions," Gandhi Congress (@INCIndia) June 5, 2025Gandhi went on to accuse the BJP and RSS of lacking the courage to withstand pressure. "I know BJP-RSS people; if you put even a little pressure and give them just a slight push, they run away out of fear," he said, contrasting their conduct with that of previous Congress leaders. "You would remember when the phone call had not come, the seventh fleet came in 1971 war. Seventh fleet came, arms came, aircraft carriers came, but Indira Gandhi said 'I will do what I want'. This is the difference," he Backing Gandhi's remarks, Congress leader Pawan Khera told reporters, "Don't assume that India is Narendra or Narendra is India. He makes grand speeches but ends up surrendering. Just days ago, they talked about China, and now, not even once is China uttered."The BJP hit back sharply at Gandhi's remarks. Party leader Pradip Bhandari said, "Under the leadership of PM Modi, India has given a befitting reply to Pakistan's terror masters. From Salman Khurshid to Shashi Tharoor, every Congress leader is talking about this and Pakistan itself is giving evidence of this... The people of the country see this uncivilised Rahul Gandhi as an agent of Pakistan."Union Minister Kiren Rijiju slammed the Congress as well, stating, "There is also a limit to stupidity and opposition! There's nobody in Congress Party to tell him that being in the Opposition Party does not mean, to oppose the nation?"BJP's IT cell chief Amit Malviya, in a post on X, wrote, "History will remember: From Doklam to Pahalgam, whenever India stood united to defend its sovereignty and rise as a global power, Rahul Gandhi, true to the legacy of his lineage, chose to stand with forces opposed to India's political and economic resurgence."advertisementMeanwhile, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, who is currently leading an all-party delegation to the US, among other countries, as part of India's global outreach following the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor, struck a different tone. Responding to a question about Gandhi's comments, Tharoor said that India did not need persuasion to stop the conflict."India didn't need persuasion to stop. No one needed to tell us to stop because we were telling them the moment Pakistan stops, we are prepared to stop. So if they, in turn, told the Pakistani, You better stop because the Indians are willing to stop and that was what they did. And that's a wonderful gesture on their part," he further stated, "We have no real difficulty speaking the same language as the Pakistanis, as long as they use the language of terrorism. We will use the language of force, and that doesn't require a third party."He added that he would not dwell on the details, emphasising India's "much more important strategic partnership" with the United States. "We have enormous respect for the US," he InMust Watch

In Nuh, man runs van over wife multiple times till she dies

Nuh: A 38-year-old woman met a horrific end on Naurangpur-Tauru road in Nuh district, where her husband ran her over with his pickup truck multiple times until she drew her last breath. The brutal murder, which occurred around 2pm on Friday, followed months of marital disputes. According to police, Sangeeta, a resident of Kota Khandewla village, had endured years of abuse at the hands of her alcoholic husband, Narender (40), who repeatedly demanded money from her. On Friday too, Sangeeta was assaulted, prompting her to reach out to her brother, Pradeep Kumar, for help. In another phone call, Narender issued an ultimatum to Pradeep —he would kill her if he did not take her sister away. Pradeep rushed to his sister's house, only to find her being assaulted by both Narender and their 20-year-old son. Despite managing to escape with Sangeeta on his motorcycle, their relief was short-lived. Narender, on hot pursuit, rammed their bike with his pickup truck on Naurangpur-Tauru road. While Pradeep managed to save himself by leaping into the nearby fields, Sangeeta wasn't as fortunate. The man repeatedly drove over his wife until she succumbed to her injuries.A murder case was registered at Mohammadpur Ahir police station against five family members, including Narender, his son, and Sangeeta's in-laws. According to Pradeep, he had recently given Rs 2.9 lakh to Narender to stop the abuse, but the demands continued, with Narender asking for an additional Rs 1.5 lakh before the fatal incident. "We have booked five members of the family, including the husband and son of the deceased. Whenever Narender used to thrash Sangeeta, her son supported his father and assaulted his mother as well. We will soon nab the absconding accused," the SHO said. The case assumed additional urgency as Pradeep revealed that his younger sister, who married Narender's brother in 2003, might also be in danger. The FIR was registered under sections 103 (murder), 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 3(5) (act done by several persons) of BNS.

Narender Reddy's artistry wows visitors to exhibition in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: With intricate detailing and a vibrant splash of colours, artist Narender Reddy's artworks wowed visitors at the Chitramayee State Gallery of Art, including Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who inaugurated the event on April 28 alongside Ministers Jupally Krishna Rao and D Sridhar Babu. The exhibition 'The Eternal Mesmeriser', has been drawing art lovers from across the city, drawn in by the emotion and finesse of Narender's semi-realistic figurative paintings. A Hyderabad-based artist known for his spiritually inspired and nature-infused works, Narender brings together traditional themes and contemporary techniques with ease. The exhibition dives deep into mythology and tranquil landscapes, with Lord Krishna being a recurring muse. Narender blends impressionist elements with textured styles like knife painting, using oil and acrylic to give his canvases a glowing, almost ethereal feel. Wandering through the gallery, visitors were especially struck by the Krishna-centric pieces, radiating divine energy and vibrant colour. The symbolism, use of light, and layered textures reflect not only his spiritual perspective but also his command over the medium. Many of the artworks draw from his roots in Mahbubnagar, inspired by rustic village scenes, lush greenery, and the quiet rhythm of rural life. 'The paintings span a decade of my work, from 2015 to 2025,' Narender said, noting that each one represents a different chapter in his journey as an artist. Graduated from JNTU and completed his master's from Aichi, Japan, the artist says there is a significant difference between India and the international art scene. He noted that there is much more exposure, opportunities, and better facilities available outside India. For instance, he says, 'Glass painting is widely popular abroad, whereas in India, it is only recently developing.' He adds that art in Hyderabad is slowly gaining recognition, and even colleges are beginning to adopt new technologies.
