PM Modi virtually inaugurates 6 revamped railway stations in MP
Bhopal: Narmadapuram and Shajapur railway stations in Bhopal division underwent comprehensive redevelopment under the 'Amrit Bharat Station Yojana'. On Thursday, these stations, along with four other stations in Madhya Pradesh and 100 others nationwide, were inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video conferencing from Bikaner, Rajasthan.
The inauguration at Narmadapuram Railway Station was attended by Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel (via VC), chief minister Mohan Yadav, minister-in-charge Rakesh Singh and local representatives in Narmadapuram.
Prime Minister Modi highlighted the unprecedented modernisation of railway stations across India. The six stations in Madhya Pradesh are Katni South, Shridham, Narmadapuram, Shajapur, Seoni, and Orchha.
These stations serve as both passenger facilities and representations of India's ancient cultural heritage, promoting tourism and employment opportunities.
The Madhya Pradesh govt's allocation of land to BEML for a rail coach manufacturing facility means modern coaches will now be produced within the state. CM Yadav outlined plans for Narmadapuram, Budhni, Itarsi, and Sohagpur to develop into metropolitan areas.

The state govt's regional industry conclave in Narmadapuram will establish solar equipment manufacturing facilities.
Alongside industrial development, the govt is prioritising heritage preservation and tourism, with plans to establish Pachmarhi as India's premier tourist destination, CM Yadav said. He added, "Narmadapuram will see growth in both tourism and industrial sectors."
The chief minister noted ongoing work on three river projects to expand irrigation coverage.
An agricultural exhibition is scheduled for May 26, 27, and 28 in Narsinghpur, offering farmers training in modern agricultural techniques and agro-industries. The state is actively promoting agriculture-based industries and implementing women's empowerment through the Nari Shaktikaran Mission. A significant women's empowerment conference is planned in Bhopal on May 31, coinciding with Ahilya Mata's 300th birth anniversary, with Prime Minister Modi in attendance.
Senior Commercial Manager Saurabh Kataria emphasised that these improvements would enhance passenger experience while supporting regional development. This project aligns with Indian Railways' vision of national advancement during the Amrit period, he said. Railway officials present included West Central Railway General Manager Shobhana Bandopadhyay, Bhopal Divisional Railway Manager Devashish Tripathi, and other senior officers.

The Rs 26 crore redevelopment features Maa Narmada-themed design, modern amenities, and enhanced passenger facilities, including a wide foot over bridge and accessible infrastructure. The station now features extensive circulating area beautification and LED lighting, transforming it into a contemporary cultural centre on Maa Narmada's sacred ground.
Shajapur Railway Station – A combination of tradition and modernity
The inauguration at Shajapur was attended by MP Mahendra Singh Solanki, MLA Arun Bhimawad, and various local officials alongside railway representatives. The Rs 13 crore renovation includes elevated platforms, new infrastructure, and modern facilities. The station's 'Art and Culture Zone' showcases local traditions, attracting visitors.
