Missing Judge Aspirant Case That Gripped Madhya Pradesh Solved After Police Find Woman

Archana Tiwari, a 29-year-old law graduate from Indore, who vanished on August 7, has been found alive. Her disappearance led to a massive search in Madhya Pradesh. A 29-year-old law graduate preparing for judicial services, whose disappearance had gripped Madhya Pradesh for the past week, has been found alive, according to broadcaster NDTV. Archana Tiwari had last been seen boarding the Indore-Bilaspur Narmada Express on August 7, after which she appeared to vanish without a trace. The broadcaster said that Archana had been in touch with a police constable posted in Gwalior, who is now being questioned. Her brother, Divyanshu Mishra, also told the broadcaster that she has spoken to her mother and is safe, adding that the police will share more details. A railway police team has left to bring her back from her current location, officials said. Superintendent of Police of Bhopal Railway Division Rahul Kumar Lodha told the broadcaster that the investigation had yielded important leads but declined to reveal further information. Her disappearance had triggered a massive police search across multiple districts. Investigators initially found her bag abandoned at Umaria station. Her last mobile location was traced to Rani Kamlapati station in Bhopal, and the device briefly connected to the internet at Itarsi, suggesting that she may have made an online call before going offline. Police teams then reviewed footage from 97 CCTV cameras across railway stations and searched the forested Midghat stretch between Budhni and Barkheda with drones, divers and sniffer dogs. Ticket checkers, attendants, co-passengers and her circle of friends and classmates were all questioned. Archana, a resident of Indore, had been pursuing judicial services coaching in the city. She last spoke to her mother when her train reached Bhopal around 10.15 pm on August 7. After that, her phone went silent, leading to a week-long search that ended with confirmation of her safety. The broadcaster in its report added that she has since spoken to her family, easing fears in a case that had drawn statewide attention. view comments First Published: August 19, 2025, 18:36 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Civil Judge Aspirant Who Disappeared During Train Journey Finally Traced

Bhopal: A civil judge aspirant whose mysterious disappearance had gripped the entire state of Madhya Pradesh has been found. Archana Tiwari, 29, is last known to have taken a train from Indore to Katni. But there was no trace of her since. It has now emerged that she had been in touch with a constable posted in Gwalior, and he is being questioned. Her brother, Divyanshu Mishra, has also confirmed to NDTV that she is alive and said the police will share further information. Superintendent of Police of Bhopal Railway Division, Rahul Kumar Lodha, said the police have received some important clues but did not share further information. Sources said she has also spoken to her mother and shared her location. A railway police team is believed to have left for the location to pick her up. The law graduate had been preparing for judicial services in Indore. She had taken the Indore-Bilaspur Narmada Express on August 7. She had last spoken to her mother when the train had reached Bhopal at 10:15 PM. She vanished thereafter. The police found her bag abandoned at the Umaria station. Her last mobile location was detected at Rani Kamlapati station in Bhopal. It had briefly connected to the internet at Itarsi, suggesting that an internet call was possibly made before it went offline. The police then swung into action and scanned footage from 97 cameras across multiple railway stations. Three police teams were deployed, and the forest area of Midghat, a hilly stretch between Budhni and Barkheda, was searched with the help of sniffer dogs, divers, and drones. Ms Tiwari's call details and social media handles were analysed, and her friends and fellow students, who she was in regular contact, were also questioned. Besides, the police also interrogated the train ticket checker, coach attendants, and co-passengers.

Madhya Pradesh woman boarded train with rakhi and gifts but only her bag arrived — massive search underway for 29-year-old

Coach B3, berth number 3 — the reservation was confirmed and the passenger had boarded. But when the Narmada Express pulled into Katni South station in Madhya Pradesh on August 6, only her bag remained, containing a rakhi, a handkerchief, and gifts for children. The woman who had carefully packed these Rakshabandhan staples was nowhere to be found. The disappearance of 29-year-old Archana Tiwari has sparked a multi-state search and raised questions about what happened during what should have been a routine 12-hour journey home. As search teams scour railway networks across central India, nearly two weeks after her disappearance, her family is demanding a CBI probe. Archana is a lawyer practising at the Madhya Pradesh High Court's Indore bench. She is also preparing for civil judge examinations and was living in a hostel in Indore. Her brother Abhishek said, 'She was working hard to become a judge. We were expecting to see her on Rakshabandhan. Then she just vanished.' On the morning of August 5, two days before Rakshabandhan, Archana left her Indore hostel with her bag packed with festival gifts and boarded the Narmada Express. At 10.16 pm that night, Archana called her aunt and said she had reached near Bhopal. This would be her last known communication. When the train pulled into Katni South railway station the next morning, her family stood waiting on the platform. But Archana did not come out. Her last digital trace was a cell tower ping near the Narmada Railway Bridge in Narmadapuram district, a location that has since become the epicentre of search operations. The investigation has mobilised law enforcement teams across multiple districts. GRP Superintendent Rahul Kumar Lodha said that Archana's last verified location was Itarsi railway station, where witnesses reported seeing her on the train. But what happened between that sighting and her family's arrival at Katni remains a mystery. 'She went missing on the day hundreds of people came to attend a local religious programme. We have multiple witnesses who have seen her. We think that she must have left on her own in such a situation. Common sense says she must not have been kidnapped from such a crowded place,' Lodha told The Indian Express. The search for Archana has become a coordinated effort spanning multiple states. Police teams have scoured areas from Rani Kamalapati railway station to Itarsi and Katni, analysing CCTV footage from stations and surrounding areas. An all-India search order has been issued to station house officers and superintendents of police across the country. The Home Guard and State Disaster Response Force teams have been deployed to search the Narmada River, near where her phone was last traced. Katni Youth Congress president Divyanshu has announced a cash reward of Rs 51,000 for any information about Archana's whereabouts. Railway stations, bus depots, and travel agencies across the region have also been alerted. 'Every lead, no matter how tenuous, is being pursued with the urgency that missing person cases demand,' said a senior police officer.

11 days on, no trace of aspirant civil judge missing from train

Bhopal: Mystery shrouds the disappearance of 29-year-old Archana Tiwari, a civil judge aspirant, who has been missing for over 11 days after boarding the Indore-Bilaspur Narmada Express on Aug 7. Despite massive searches across stations, forests, and now the Narmada river, no breakthrough has been achieved. Archana, a native of Katni, boarded coach B-3 to visit her family for Raksha Bandhan. When the train reached Katni, she was not on board. Her phone had switched off, and a missing report was lodged with Katni GRP. Passengers last saw her at Bhopal railway station. One co-passenger seated below her berth told police that around 11.30 pm, she climbed down, brushed against his leg, apologised, and walked towards the toilet — but never returned. Her family believes this may have been the moment the train was crossing the Narmada bridge between Budhni and Narmadapuram. Her bag was later found at Umaria station. Her phone's internet briefly switched on near Itarsi, suggesting she may have made a net call, before going silent again. Over the past week, GRP and local police have examined nearly 97 CCTVs across Narmadapuram, Pawarkheda, Itarsi and other stations, but the footage yielded no conclusive lead. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villas Prices In Dubai Might Be More Affordable Than You Think Villas In Dubai | Search Ads Get Quote Search operations have since expanded to Budhni and Barkheda forests, and now the Narmada river at Kharraghat, where State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF) teams have been deployed with support from her relatives. Archana's brothers Abhay and Anurag Tiwari have personally joined the investigations, scanning hours of CCTV footage with police in Itarsi. They have also accompanied the search teams to forest areas and the riverbank. Even as hopes dim, officials insist that a major disclosure could emerge soon.
