Pakistani brothers suspected of trying to export stolen cars
KANAGAWA (TR) – Kanagawa Prefectural Police last week arrested two Pakistani brothers for making false declarations to customs officials and attempting to export two stolen Toyota cars, reports Jiji Press (July 16).
On July 16, police accused Naseebullah, the 38-year-old director of car export company Idrees Trading and his younger brother, 36-year-old Nakibullah, of violating the violating the Customs Act.
The suspects were accused of making a false application to Yokohama Customs on January 31 for attempting to export two stolen cars — with a total market value of approximately 9.3 million yen — to the United Arab Emirates.
Nakibullah works for his brother at Idrees Trading, which is located in Namegata City, Ibaraki Prefecture.
According to police, the incident was discovered on February 18 when customs officials notified them that vehicles different from those listed on the application documents had been loaded into a container.
When the cars were examined, it was discovered that a Lexus had been stolen from a private home in Kyoto City between the end of last year and the beginning of this year. As well, there was a Crown that had been stolen from a parking lot in Yokohama City.
Prefectural police are investigating how the suspects obtained the cars.
