Youth Minister opens ‘One Space Unites Us' event

Her Excellency Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, opened the 'One Space Unites Us' event. The event was organised by the ministry in cooperation with the Bahrain Space Agency and Nasser Centre for Science and Technology, with young people from Bahrain and other GCC countries taking part. Marking Gulf Youth Day, Minister Tawfiqi said that young people are the real wealth of any nation and the foundation for its future. Empowerment She added that investing in their empowerment, especially in innovation, technology, and the space sector, is a strategic priority for building a bright future that matches the country's ambitions. The Minister highlighted the importance of the event as a key step in supporting development in space sciences. She said that the space sector has become a strategic focus for young people's ambitions in science and technology, and for building a sustainable future.

Nasser Centre unveils new identity to drive innovation and youth development

The Nasser Centre for Science and Technology has launched its new institutional identity, marking a strategic shift towards innovation, advanced industry, and youth empowerment. Inspired by the vision of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, the new identity reflects the Centre's role in preparing Bahrain's future leaders in technology, artificial intelligence, and industrial innovation. Aligned with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, the updated identity positions the Centre as a driver of national development, focused on equipping young Bahrainis with 21st-century skills, supporting institutional growth, and enhancing economic competitiveness. The logo symbolises the student journey from education to professional contribution, highlighting the Centre's three main tracks: engineering, technological innovation, and sports and business management. With this rebranding, the Centre begins a new chapter as a strategic national institution committed to fostering talent, advancing technology, and supporting Bahrain's transition to a knowledge-based economy. Vatel Bahrain Showcases Programmes at NCST University Expo

Manama: Vatel Bahrain participated in the annual University Fair, organised by the Nasser Centre for Science and Technology as part of University Expo 2025, alongside prominent higher education institutions from across the Kingdom of Bahrain. The event aims to introduce high school students to a wide range of academic disciplines and expand their awareness of future career paths. It provides a platform for connecting students with leading higher education institutions, helping them make informed academic and professional decisions. According to Bahrain News Agency, throughout the event, the Vatel Bahrain team showcased the bachelor's programme in International Hotel Management, emphasising its unique academic approach. The programme integrates rigorous theoretical instruction with a strong focus on practical application, offering students valuable internship opportunities at leading international hotels both locally in Bahrain and abroad, including France and other international destinations. Vatel Bahrain presented its educational framework in tourism, hospitality, and hotel management, underscoring its commitment to preparing highly skilled professionals capable of meeting the demands of the global labour market. Shaikh Khaled bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, General Director of Vatel Bahrain, highlighted that the expo served as a platform for engaging directly with students and their families, and provided an opportunity to answer their inquiries, guide students in choosing programmes befitting their capabilities and interests, and raise awareness about the career prospects available in the hospitality industry, which Vatel Bahrain facilitates through an integrated system of academic and practical training. Shaikh Khaled bin Khalifa noted the strong interest shown by students in Vatel Bahrain's stand, particularly those aiming for careers in tourism, hospitality, and hotel management. He mentioned that this engagement underscores the college's efforts to attract driven and talented students, supporting Bahrain's position as a regional centre for hospitality education. Nasser Centre for Science and Technology and the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) establish a partnership agreement as part of the Tamkeen's Apprenticeship Program with the purpose of empowering Bahraini youth in engineering specialties, offering them training and career development opportunities and enabling them to enter the labor market with vocational qualifications. The agreement was signed by Maha Abdulhameed Mofeez, Chief Executive of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) and Dr. Abdullah Naser Al Noaimi, Chief Executive Officer of Nasser Centre for Science and Technology. This partnership underpins the shared goals between the two organizations to support education and vocational training in Bahrain by offering specialized training programs aimed at equipping national talent with the skills required to enter the labor market and compete in it across a wide range of specialties. This partnership is aligned with Tamkeen's strategic priorities for 2025, which focus on enhancing the position and competitiveness of Bahrainis in the private sector, equipping Bahrainis with suitable skills for career development in the private sector, and prioritizing enterprise growth, digitization, and sustainability, and supporting the development of the ecosystem surrounding the labor market and private sector. Commenting on this initiative, Maha Abdulhameed Mofeez, Chief Executive of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) emphasized the importance of this program in preparing Bahraini talent to enter the labor market and thrive in it. She stated: 'this program offers a unique opportunity for Bahrainis to gain the skills required in the market and get access to on-the-job training opportunities that empower them with the practical knowledge necessary for their career growth. The program is aligned with our objective of making Bahrainis the employees of choice in the labor market and providing them with training opportunities that facilitate their employment and enhance their competitiveness through upskilling in alignment with the market's needs' Dr. Abdullah Naser Al Noaimi, Chief Executive Officer of Nasser Centre for Science and Technology highlighted the role of apprenticeship in fostering a highly competitive and qualified national workforce that caters to the rapidly changing requirements of the labor market. This approach will help in qualifying Bahrainis for the labor market and providing enterprises with the workforce needed for their sustainability and growth. The Nasser Centre for Science and Technology training arm will collaborate with private sector enterprises to facilitate on-the-job training as part of the program. This will encourage enterprises to employ Bahrainis as apprentices and provide them with opportunities to gain in demand practical knowledge in various areas such as electrical work, welding and plumbing. The program will allocate 30% of the apprentices' time to academic training and 70% of their time to on-the-job training across a period of 36 months to ensure their readiness for employment. NCST will announce the opening of applications for the program at a later stage.
