Post-parade festivities continue at Nathan Bill's Bar and Restaurant in Springfield
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – As the last group of marchers wrapped up the St. Patrick's Parade in Holyoke, the crowd headed off to their favorite Irish pubs to celebrate the last bit of St. Patrick's Day left. 72nd annual Holyoke St. Patrick's Parade march lineup At 5:00 p.m. Sunday evening, Nathan Bill's Bar and Restaurant was packed. Some of the people there got to the parade between 8-10am earlier that day. There is only one way to close out this Irish weekend. 'This, a lot of camaraderie. I'm not even Irish and it's awesome,' said Donna Valletti of Springfield. 'Care-free, just having fun, everyone's having a good time,' shared Scott Megazzini of Springfield. Post-parade festivities are a tradition for many locals. First responders from across the region were also taking part, as parade weekend is known to be a homecoming. Whether it was the live band at Nathan Bill's or their shamrock martini's, quality time is what drew all of these people to celebrate one last hoorah. Community readies for St. Patrick's Parade at annual opening ceremony in Springfield
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Thousands of people are preparing for the St. Patrick's parade in Holyoke this weekend. Dozens of people gathered at Nathan Bill's Thursday night for their annual opening ceremony, eager to celebrate this weekend. Two checks were presented to local organizations, all thanks to the Thomas J. Sullivan Memorial Fund. Checks were able to be presented to Pope Francis High School and the Chicopee Marine Ball Committee. The Memorial Fund continues to honor the life and legacy of the owner's brother who dedicated his life to service as a marine. 'He was a heroic person he had a high moral code and he was all about doing the right thing,' says Joe Sullivan, Owner of Nathan Bill's Bar and Restaurant. Sullivan says that because of the Memorial Fund, students can have the opportunity to receive a private school November, The Pope Francis Scholarship Fund has raised more than $750,000. Nathan Bill's also plans to host the ultimate after-party following the parade with delicious Irish food and live Irish music.
