UPDATE: Deputies release more information in Daviess County shooting
LOOGOOTEE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Two men have been charged with multiple felony offenses after one man allegedly shot another man in a cabin where police found over 83 grams of methamphetamine, according to officials. On February 14, the Daviess County Sheriff's Office (DCSO), along with the Martin County Sheriff's Office (MCSO), were dispatched to a cabin in Loogootee, Indiana, for reports of a gunshot wound, according to a press release from the DCSO. Inside, EMS and deputies found Nathan T. Harmon, 41, with multiple gunshot wounds. DCSO said the suspect, Alexander J. Carlquist, 35, fled the scene prior to deputies arriving. Calquist was tracked to an address in Perry County, Indiana, before fleeing into a wooded area. DCSO said Calrquist was eventually located and placed in custody on Saturday, February 15. 17-year-old boy dies in single vehicle accident in Daviess County While inside the cabin in Loogootee, which was identified Harmon's home, deputies allegedly observed drug paraphernalia in plain sight, according to a Probable Cause Affidavit (PCA). After a search warrant was granted for Harmon's residence, the PCA said several drug-related items, drug paraphernalia, a small pouch with smoking devices and a large amount of a crystal-like substance were allegedly found inside. 'Through my training and experience as a law enforcement officer as well as several methamphetamine-related arrests, (the crystal-like substance) appeared to be methamphetamine,' said Breighton Tolliver of DCSO. A separate search warrant was then granted for dealing with methamphetamine-related items, and inside officers allegedly found several scales with a crystal-like residue on them, $6,000 in all $100 bills located in a large beverage jug, and 83.44 grams of methamphetamine, according to the PCA. Carlquist was arrested on the warrant for the following charges, according to DCSO: Burglary, but serious bodily injury occurs and burglary was to a dwelling (level 1 felony) Burglary with a deadly weapon (level 2 felony) Battery by means of a deadly weapon (level 5 felony) Battery resulting in serious bodily injury (level 5 felony) Nathan T. Harmon was arrested on the warrant for the charge of dealing in methamphetamine, a level 2 felony. Man shot inside his residence charged with dealing drugs
LOOGOOTEE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A man who was shot inside his residence, is now facing a level 2 felony after police allegedly found over 83 grams of methamphetamine inside, according to a Probable Cause Affidavit (PCA). Officials said, that on February 14, the Daviess County Sheriff's Office (DCSO), along with the Martin County Sheriff's Office (MCSO), were dispatched to the residence of Nathan T. Harmon for reports of a gunshot wound. Deputies said Harmon was the victim in the shooting. While inside Harmon's residence, deputies allegedly observed drug paraphernalia in plain sight. According to the PCA, Detective Keith Hinderliter advised that Harmon was allegedly in possession of drug paraphernalia and a digital scale. The suspect that allegedly shot another man is in custody in Daviess County After a search warrant was granted for Harmon's residence, the PCA said several drug-related items, drug paraphernalia, a small pouch with smoking devices and a large amount of a crystal-like substance were allegedly found inside. 'Through my training and experience as a law enforcement officer as well as several methamphetamine-related arrests, (the crystal-like substance) appeared to be methamphetamine,' said Breighton Tolliver of DCSO. 'With the totality of evidence located within the residence, I have reason to believe that Harmon was dealing in large amounts of methamphetamine. Harmon will be long formed for Dealing in Methamphetamine due to being taken to the hospital for his injuries sustained in the shooting,' said Tolliver.
