National Center for Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management warns of increasing desertification
The National Center for Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management has warned of increasing desertification and drought, particularly in the southern and central regions, due to climate change and rapid environmental degradation.
In a statement marking the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought on June 17, the center called for strengthening national preparedness to address drought within disaster management plans and for mapping affected areas to prioritize intervention.
It also emphasized the importance of supporting afforestation and land reclamation projects, raising public awareness through media and education, adopting sustainable agricultural and water policies, and reducing random groundwater depletion. News Tagged: combating desertification
