Military intelligence : Morocco shares its expertise with Niger
Morocco is deepening its security cooperation with Niger, which in December 2023 joined the royal initiative to facilitate Sahel states' access to the Atlantic Ocean. This commitment was underscored during an August 6 meeting in Niamey between Colonel-Major Mahamadou Nouhou Bako, director of the National Center for Strategic and Security Studies (CNESS) in charge of military intelligence, and Colonel Adil Rajai, defense attaché at the Moroccan embassy in Niger, according to a CNESS statement relayed by local media.
«The discussion mainly focused on the importance of cooperation in scientific research applied to strategic and security studies between our two countries, through the sharing of experiences, taking into account the complex and multifaceted challenges to peace and security», the communiqué said.
Niger's Foreign Minister, Bakary Yaou Sangare, was among the delegation of foreign ministers from the Alliance of Sahel States received by King Mohammed VI on April 28.
Earlier, in February 2024, Nigerien Prime Minister Ali Mahamane Lamine Zeine delivered a message from Brigadier General Abdourrahman Tiani, president of the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland and head of state, to King Mohammed VI, via Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch.
