Morton's offering $2 filet mignon sandwiches. How to get one.
The filet mignon is a special cut of meat, so it makes sense there's a National Filet Mignon Day, celebrated Wednesday, Aug. 13. If you've got the hunger for a filet, there's a few deals out there to mark the occasion. But why is the filet mignon – the name is French for a "dainty" slice of meat – special? "What sets the filet apart, primarily, is its texture. The muscle fibers are fine and densely packed, resulting in a steak cut that practically melts in your mouth," according to the website of the Carversteak restaurant, located in Resorts World Las Vegas. The tenderloin "is a narrow, elongated muscle located along the spine, and because it is not heavily worked during the animal's life, it remains exceptionally tender," according to the site. Here's where to get some deals on the special meat. Morton's The Steakhouse's National Filet Mignon Day deal Morton's The Steakhouse, which has more than 65 locations worldwide, has a special on Aug. 13 on $2 filet sandwiches from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The sandwiches can be ordered in the bar area (maximum order of eight per person; Saratoga Springs, New York, and international locations excluded). 4 West Virginia restaurants named top Valentine's Day hidden gems

CLARKSBURG, (WBOY) — A fine dining restaurant in California compiled a list of the best hidden gems across the country to take your valentine, and four West Virginia restaurants made the list. The Wonder Bar Steakhouse in Clarksburg made top 10 on the list at #7. Known for its steaks, seafood, wine and elevated experience, Wonder Bar is the perfect place for a special occasion. According to Zinfandel Grille which compiled the list, Wonder Bar's reputation and award-winning wine make it 'West Virginia's premier chophouse.' 'The intimate setting provides a nostalgic backdrop for memorable meals, combining traditional steakhouse elegance with decades of culinary tradition.' Wonder Bar has been operating in Clarksburg since 1946 and has won awards from Wine Spectator 10 years in a row. If you want to take your valentine this year, you'll have to flexible on the date; according to its website, Wonder Bar is already fully booked for Friday, Feb. 14 and Saturday, Feb. 15. These are the most underrated restaurants in West Virginia, according to viewers But Wonder Bar isn't the only place in West Virginia perfect for a special occasion. The French Goat in Lewisburg (#51), Lot 12 Public House in Berkeley Springs (#53) and Stefano's in Morgantown (#63) also made the list.
