To foster inclusion and inspire students with learning difficulties, a special screening of 'Sitare Zameen Par' was held for over 700 students in Secunderabad. HYDERABAD: In an effort to promote inclusion among children with learning difficulties, a screening of the film Sitare Zameen Par was organised for over 700 students at Tivoli Cinema, Secunderabad on Thursday. This was organised by National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID), Young Indians- a Confederation of Indian Industry initiative - and the Round Table India Foundation. Ganesh Sheregar, the NIEPID School's principal, said the film was chosen because of its positive portrayal of children overcoming obstacles. "When students see characters like themselves on screen, they begin to think, 'If they can do it, why can't I?" he added. While the department of Adult Independent Living at NIEPID has trained and placed over 18,000 students in the past three years, Ganesh said only 100-200 of them have managed to keep jobs long term.
