Govt launches app, campaign to enhance child welfare services
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha govt on Wednesday launched the 'AWESOME' app and the 'Aasa Jiba Anganwadi' campaign at a state-level workshop for child development project officers (CDPOs) to strengthen grassroots-level child welfare services. The AWESOME app (Anganwadi Welfare and Service Oversight Monitoring Everywhere) is a digital platform aimed at enhancing real-time monitoring of infrastructure and service delivery at Anganwadi centres. "The strength of our child development efforts lies in the capability of CDPOs at the grassroots level," deputy chief minister Pravati Parida said. She added, "Odisha aims to become a malnutrition-free state by 2036, which depends on empowering frontline leaders and CDPOs play a major role in this transformation." The 'Aasa Jiba Anganwadi' campaign will run from August 1 to 15, during which citizens are urged to visit their nearest Anganwadi centres, assess cleanliness, infrastructure and services and share feedback. The initiative coincides with World Breastfeeding Week (August 1–7) and seeks to promote community participation in early childhood development. Chief secretary Manoj Ahuja encouraged CDPOs to adopt people-centric strategies aligned with 'Vision Odisha 2036'.
