CG picks up 13 gold among 18 medals in powerlifting c'ship
Raipur: The National Powerlifting Championship was held recently in Gujarat, where Chhattisgarh athletes delivered an impressive performance, securing a total of 18 medals, including 13 gold, 4 silver, and 1 bronze. Chhattisgarh Powerlifting Association President Manik Tamrakar informed that the championship saw participation from 450 athletes representing 22 states. Among Chhattisgarh's winners, Rohit Kumar Chaudhary clinched 3 gold medals, Kirti Nayak bagged 1 gold and 1 silver, and Nahid Akhtar won 1 gold and 1 silver. Prem Rajan secured 3 golds, Aastha Jha also claimed 3 golds, and Manira Tandi earned 1 silver. Krishna Sahu won 1 bronze medal, while Tejas Hedau claimed 2 golds. The teenage sensation had shattered three national records in the under-93kg men's sub junior weight class at the National Championship in May, setting new marks in the squat (230kg), deadlift (260kg), and total (625kg). He had also lifted a 135kg in the bench press but it was not a record.
