Police collects RM598,970 in summons at Raya discount event

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of RM598,970 in summons collections was successfully recorded during the discount initiative held at the police Hari Raya celebration at Titiwangsa Stadium last Monday. Bukit Aman Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said 950 individuals settled 5,362 summonses during the event. "We also welcome Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution's proposal to expand the use of MyDigital ID in traffic summons payments," he said when contacted by Harian Metro today. Previously, it was reported that police supported the government's suggestion for MyDigital ID integration for summons payments. Saifuddin said although usage of the application is not compulsory, it aligns with national digitalisation policy and is encouraged. He added that the government has agreed to amend the National Registration Act 1959 to facilitate the broader adoption of MyDigital ID.

Home Minister hints at more MyDigital ID benefits

KUALA LUMPUR: There may be more 'benefits' for those paying traffic summonses if offenders perform their transactions using the MyDigital ID app, says Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. 'We are looking at things like greater discounts for app users. Previously, there was a 50% discount. For those using MyDigital ID, maybe it'll be 55%,' he said at a Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration hosted by the police at Titiwangsa Stadium yesterday. Traffic matters is just one area where the government is hoping for greater digitalisation, said the Home Minister in underscoring the government's intent to make the MyDigital ID app more relevant for everyday life. Acknowledging the app is not currently mandatory, he said the government had agreed to amend the National Registration Act 1959 to comprehensively implement this new digital identity system. 'This move is still at the proposal stage and has not yet been approved by Parliament. 'But we encourage the public to start using the app for identity verification in all dealings.' The event, which was also attended by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar and Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, saw Saifuddin presenting donations to the less fortunate, including orphans, widows and autistic children.

Home Ministry proposes MyDigital ID use for paying traffic fines, hints at bigger discounts for app users

KUALA LUMPUR, April 21 — The Home Ministry (KDN) has suggested expanding the use of the MyDigital ID app, specifically in paying traffic summonses, its minister, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said. The move would be part of the government's digital transformation policy, he said, even though the use of MyDigital ID has yet to be made compulsory. 'In fact, the government has agreed to amend the National Registration Act 1959 to enable the official and comprehensive use of digital identification. 'It is still a suggestion and has yet to be passed at Parliament, but we encourage the public to use the app for identification confirmation in all matters,' he said during his speech at the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Hari Raya Aidilfitri event at Titiwangsa Stadium here today, adding that matters involving the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department will prioritise MyDigital ID users moving forward. 'Even better, summons discounts offered will be higher for app users. Previously there was a 50 per cent discount, with MyDigital ID maybe it'll be 55 per cent. Registration is easy, using your phone and it's a fast process,' he said. At today's event, which was also attended by Chief Secretary to the Malaysian Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar and Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, Saifuddin Nasution presented donations to police beneficiaries, including asnaf, orphans, widows and autistic children. — Bernama

Future summons discounts for those with MyDigital ID, says Saifuddin Nasution

KUALA LUMPUR: The Home Ministry has proposed incentivising the use of MyDigital ID for traffic summons payments as part of a broader government effort to digitise identity verification processes. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said all future dealings with the Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department (TEID) will incentivise those registered with MyDigital ID. "Previously, TEID generously offered discounts of up to 50 per cent on summonses, but for those with the application, we may offer even more — possibly up to 55 per cent," Saifuddin said in his speech at the police Hari Raya celebration at Titiwangsa Stadium today. "Registering for MyDigital is very easy, it only requires a mobile phone and the process takes just a moment," he added. Saifuddin said that although usage of the application is not compulsory, it aligns with national digitalisation policy and is encouraged. He added that the government has agreed to amend the National Registration Act 1959 to facilitate the broader adoption of MyDigital ID. "This matter is still at the proposal stage and has not yet been passed in Parliament," he said. Also present at the event were Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, and Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay. MyDigital ID is a government initiative for secure and authenticated digital identity verification for online users, developed in 2016. On Nov 21 of last year, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced an immediate allocation of RM80 million to R&D agency Mimos Bhd to fast-track MyDigital ID implementation, strengthen digital transformation, and advance digital initiatives, particularly those involving government transactions. Anwar expressed frustration over delays in the MyDigital ID project and the second 5G network, revealing that he had sternly voiced his dissatisfaction in a recent meeting.
