Home Minister hints at more MyDigital ID benefits
KUALA LUMPUR: There may be more 'benefits' for those paying traffic summonses if offenders perform their transactions using the MyDigital ID app, says Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
'We are looking at things like greater discounts for app users. Previously, there was a 50% discount. For those using MyDigital ID, maybe it'll be 55%,' he said at a Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration hosted by the police at Titiwangsa Stadium yesterday.
Traffic matters is just one area where the government is hoping for greater digitalisation, said the Home Minister in underscoring the government's intent to make the MyDigital ID app more relevant for everyday life.
Acknowledging the app is not currently mandatory, he said the government had agreed to amend the National Registration Act 1959 to comprehensively implement this new digital identity system.

'This move is still at the proposal stage and has not yet been approved by Parliament.
'But we encourage the public to start using the app for identity verification in all dealings.'
The event, which was also attended by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar and Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, saw Saifuddin presenting donations to the less fortunate, including orphans, widows and autistic children.

'It immortalises a story filled with valuable lessons, when Prophet Ibrahim A.S was willing to sacrifice his son, Prophet Ismail A.S, out of obedience to the command of Allah SWT. In His mercy, Allah SWT replaced the sacrifice with an animal, symbolising His love for those who are obedient servants.
