Salvation Army gets $100K for utilities aid program, holds fan giveaway

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — Folks with the Salvation Army of Wichita Falls wrapped up National Salvation Army Week with a huge fan giveaway, which is also the perfect time for these rising temps! The giveaway kicked off this morning, but not before Salvation Army officials were gifted a $100,000 check from TXU Energy. That money will go toward the Salvation Army's utilities assistance program, which helps clients pay their energy bills. After the check presentation, the line started moving quickly for those who showed up to get their free box or oscillating fan. Kim Campbell, Senior Manager for TXU Energy, said she couldn't think of a better organization to help this year. 'They are the heart of our local communities, right? And being able to help people when they're struggling and to see the smiles on their faces this morning as people are receiving the box fans, and just so grateful for us being a part of the local community, I love it. It's part of my favorite part of my job,' Campbell said. Click here for more information on the Salvation Army's utilities assistance program or other services. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Salvation Army celebrates Day of Caring with 'Bundles of Hope'

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC)— On Friday, Salvation Army volunteers and community members joined together for the organization's Day of Caring event. The Drop-Off reception on Friday morning was held at The Salvation of Greater Rochester, located on 100 West Avenue. Over a dozen groups and local businesses participated in the day of giving back to the Rochester community by bringing together items collected towards the 'Bundles of Hope' initiative for individuals in need. United Way breaks record on 31st annual Day of Caring Each 'bundle' is equipped with essentials not commonly donated. Organizers said the donated items are critical in supporting individuals in the process of going from unhoused to living in a new environment. Additionally, the Salvation Army provides important resources for those struggling in their current residences. This week, the organization also observed National Salvation Army Week. "Our resolution, introduced during National Salvation Army Week, provides an opportunity to honor the people behind that service — the volunteers, officers, donors, and partners who help strengthen and offer hope to communities across eastern North Carolina and our nation." Kaine's official statement, submitted for inclusion in the Congressional Record, offers formal Senate recognition of National Salvation Army Week and honors the organization's legacy of service.
