Rhasidat Adeleke disappointed as she's ruled out of National Senior Track and Field Championship
Rhasidat Adeleke has expressed her disappointment after she was ruled out of the National Senior Track and Field Championship.
It was confirmed that the Olympic sprinter, who won the 100m title at the national championship last year, will not be able to defend her title at the upcoming race in Santry this weekend (August 2-3) to focus on her recovery following recent races.

A number of other Olympians who competed in Paris, including Sharlene Mawdsley — fresh off her recent race against a Tipperary hurling legend at 7am the morning after Tipp's All-Ireland win — Mark English, Sophie Becker and Phil Healy among the other athletes set to compete at the event.

'Rhasidat Adeleke is disappointed not to be defending her national 100m title this weekend with the Tallaght AC sprinter missing the 2025 championships as she continues to focus on recovery following recent race exertions,' Athletics Ireland said on their website.
The US based athlete recently raced at the Diamond League in London earlier this month, where she posted a season's best 22.52 seconds in the 200m.
Also set to compete at the senior national championship include World Indoor Silver medalist Kate O'Connor and hurdler Sarah Lavin, with World Championship candidates Cian McPhillips, Andrew Coscoran, Cathal Doyle and Sophie O'Sullivan also set to compete.

The action begins at 12pm on Saturday (August 2) with the highlight races including the 200m men's and women's finals.
On Sunday (August 3) there will be a flurry of finals, including the men's and women's 100m, 400m, 800, and 1500m. Both days of the championships will be available to stream on Athletics Ireland's YouTube channel, while RTÉ 2 will be providing coverage from 5pm-7.30pm on Sunday.
Day tickets are €15 with two-day tickets available for €25, while U16s go free. Athletics Ireland advise people to get their tickets online.
