LU researcher selected for capacity building programme in glaciology

Lucknow: A researcher at
Lucknow University
's geology department, Ankita Kumari, was selected for the National Summer School (Glacier Studies) capacity building programme. Only 20 researchers from across the country were selected for this programme.
Ankita is researching under associate professor Vineet Kumar, who has been conducting an in-depth study of glaciers in the Himalayan region for more than a decade. Many of his research papers were published in national and international journals.
"This programme on glaciology is sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt of India and is being organised by the University of Kashmir under the aegis of the Glacier Study Centre located in the Western Himalayas," said LU spokesperson Durgesh Srivastava.
The objective of the programme is to build the capacity of Indian researchers to carry out interdisciplinary research in the field of glaciology in the context of climate change and to better understand glacier dynamics and their response to climate change.
