The Washington Nationals are sputtering. The season, which started with such optimism, is lost. The rebuild? Long and getting longer. Since the 2019 World Series glow wore off, it has been grueling to be a Nationals fan. As one fan put it this week, the Juan Soto trade in 2022 was 'a punch to the soul.' To him, and others, this season has been harder to stomach.
