Earthquake in Myanmar also felt in Chiang Rai
An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale and centred in Myanmar was felt in many districts of Thailand's northernmost province of Chiang Rai on Monday.
Natthawut Dandee, deputy director-general of the meterology department, said the quake was detected at 3.06pm with the epicentre 10 kilometres underground in Myanmar, 132 kilometres northeast of Chiang Rai's Mae Sai district.
The department's Earthquake Observation Division reported the quake was felt in office buildings, houses and apartment buildings in Mae Chan, Mae Lao, Mae Sai, Muang and Wiang Chai districts of Chiang Rai.
