Nat'v Underwear Review: Eco-Friendly Undies Aussies have ‘Fallen in Love With'

Knickers, undies, tighty-whities, jocks – no matter what you call them, we all wear them: underwear. And despite our best efforts, finding a quality pair that are comfortable, stylish, soft, flattering under all your clothes and eco-friendly is a mighty hard task. Thankfully, Australian brand Nat'v is up to the challenge. I am constantly on the lookout for eco-friendly alternatives and love nothing more than some comfy clothes, so I had to give Nat'v a go, and I'm so glad I did. Every pair I wore I've fallen in love with - especially the Classic Brief. They may look a little like ' grandma pants ', but they are so sleek and soft that you'll want to wear them under everything. Launched in 2019, Nat'v makes everyday underwear for women and non-binary people, and have put the spotlight on sustainable practices in the fashion industry. Founder Sandy Ronalds became the change she wanted to see and by working alongside textile experts she created this standout underwear brand. 'I started this business with the vision to do better and create a sustainable company that cares about the planet and its people. 'We're simply striving to be a better brand, from the bottom up '. THE BEST NAT'V UNDERWEAR Nat'v Classic Brief, $24.50 at Nat'v Nat'v Classic Brief Nat'v Classic Brief. Picture: Nat'v. No matter what I wear, comfortability is the most important factor, and I can honestly say that the Nat'v Classic Brief is the most comfortable and breathable underwear I have ever worn. At first glance you may be a bit sceptical to slip them on, as they give the aura of 'grandma pants', but as the brand delicately puts it, they are a high waisted 'vintage cut,' and are considered an 'underwear drawer essential'. From the get-go you can tell they are good quality. They are super soft to the touch and you can see how well they are stitched, but they still maintain a semi-seamless look that looks sleek and unnoticeable under your clothes. After losing some weight over the last couple of years, I know the pain of undies slipping down and trying to discreetly pull them back into place. No matter what your size, this won't be a worry. The waistline is stretchy and offers a supportive and tight feeling without overdoing it and becoming uncomfortable. All these pros come down to its construction. It is predominantly made from LENZING Modal, which is plastic free, vegan, carbon neutral, hypoallergenic and uses recyclable processes to minimise its impact on the environment. I am so chuffed with these undies! Whether I'm simply chilling out around the house, going for a hike or just getting through the daily grind, they offer the everyday comfort some big brands skim over, and you can truly feel the difference. Nat'v The Everyday Crop, $42 at Nat'v Nat'v The Everyday Crop Nat'v The Everyday Crop. Picture: Nat'v. $42 at nat'v Every woman knows the pain of an underwire digging into you, but the The Everyday Crop takes it all away. Completely wire free, this bra is soft and smooth on the skin and its stretchy fabric keeps your money makers comfortable, supported and in place throughout the day. It boasts the same quality and eco-friendly production and materials as the Classic Brief, including using low impact dyes, being 100 per cent vegan and using LENZING Modal fabric. I did find that they aren't the best option for exercising, and those with larger busts may need something a little extra to keep the girls in place. The pads inside each cup can also fold up and move around after washing, so you'll need to rearrange before wearing it again. But these are little issues that don't take away from how great the bra is to wear. Even more proof are its excellent customer reviews. One shopper says it's 'stretchy and breathable (and) keeps nips from showing without the discomfort of an underwire'. Another adds that it's ' so comfortable,' and 'It feels like you're not wearing anything'. At the end of the day, this crop bra some extra va va voom. Nat'v Its a G Thang Nat'v Its a G Thang. Picture: Nat'v. $19.50 at Nat'v As I said earlier, comfort is the name of the game when it comes to everything I wear, so I have always avoided a G-string. That is until I got the Nat'v It's a G Thang. I'll put my hand up and say I was wrong about wearing a G-string, because this pair was surprising comfortable. Sure, the string was a little bit to get used to at first, but after a couple of minutes it really didn't feel any different to an ordinary pair of undies. Like all the other products, it's super soft, carbon neutral, plastic free and vegan. And the flexible waistband is what really stood out and made it feel comfy. If you need something teeny tiny to wear under your tight fitting ensemble, this should be the pair you reach for. It's earned a 4.9-star average rating with many customers loving the feel and look compared to other brands. 'Hardly even know it's there – so tiny but super comfortable,' boasts one shopper. Another says they 'Absolutely love this style, super comfy and elegant at the same time. The material as always is so soft. Nat'v for the win always'. MORE NAT'V PRODUCTS You can also buy Nat'v underwear and bras in sets and bundle packs, which can help you get your hands on some of their best products for a cheaper price. Here are our favourite picks: SUSTAINABILITY Each pair of Nat'v underwear is sustainably made. This is a mighty effort, and as founder Sandy Ronalds points out, 'it's a holistic approach and there are no shortcuts'. Their signature soft fabric for their range of underwear is made with LENZING Modal. This unique fabric ticks several sustainability and eco-friendly boxes: Crafted from 78 per cent natural fibres from beech trees OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, which confirms they have been tested for and proven not to contain substances or chemicals that could be deemed harmful for the health of the wearers Hypo-allergenic, so those with sensitive skin are comfortable Vegan and cruelty free Made using low impact and non-toxic dyes Created through Closed-Loop production, which recycles water and solvent used in the production process at a recovery rate of 99 per cent or above Seamless structure, which reduces textile waste In addition to the underwear themselves and their natural materials, how they are made and sent to the customers also follow basic, environmentally friendly practices. Each item boasts carbon neutral shipping (which is free for all orders over $99) and is posted in compostable and biodegradable packaging with soy-based ink. Even factory operations use sustainable practices like battery powered forklifts rather than petrol or diesel and skylights built inside rather than using electrical lights. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS WHAT ARE SOME OF THE MOST ECO-FRIENDLY MATERIALS TO WEAR? If you're wanting to shop sustainably, here are some of the best clothing materials to wear: LENZING Modal: The majority of the Nat'v underwear and bra collections use this fabric. It is derived from beech tree pulp, is soft, moisture-wicking and biodegradable. Recycled plastic: This type of clothing is crafted from recycled plastic bottles to reduce landfill waste. Organic cotton: Organic cotton typically uses less water than traditional cotton and is grown without any synthetic pesticides or fertilisers. Certified sustainable bamboo: Bamboo fast growing, does not need a lot of water and can be easily processed. Hemp: Hemp is biodegradable, durable and does not need a lot of water to grow.
