Idex, Navdex nets $2.7bn contracts in first two days

Tawazun Council - the government authority responsible for managing acquisitions, procurement, and contracts on behalf of the Ministry of Defense and security agencies - has announced the signing of five deals worth a total of AED5.8 billion ($1,6 billion) with local and international companies on the second day of Idex and Navdex2025. With these agreements, the total value of contracts signed during the first two days of the exhibitions has reached AED 9.77 billion across 18 deals. The announcement was made by Majed Ahmed Al Jaberi, Mohammed Saif Al Zaabi, and Mahra Bilal Al Dhaheri, the official spokespersons for Tawazun Council at a press briefing. Al Dhaheri said the second day's local deals stood at AED 5.57 billion. These included a contract with 'Calidus Aerospace' to Procure HEDA Missile System (Phase 1) worth AED 3.76 billion, a contract with 'International Golden Group' for the procurement of ammunition worth AED 492 million, and an agreement with 'DTEC Industries Limited' to purchase 50 meter marine traffic boats worth AED 1.38 billion, she stated. Al Zaabi said the international contracts for the second day of Idex and Navdex2025 stood at AED 213 million. These included an agreement with the French company 'MBDA' to provide spare parts, maintenance, repairs, and technical support for naval equipment. Additionally, a contract was signed with 'Augusta Westland Aviation Services 'of Italy to provide technical, engineering, and logistics support, along with aircraft spare parts, worth AED181 million. Al Jaberi highlighted Tawazun Council's commitment to enhancing cooperation between leading local and international defence companies. He pointed out that Idex and Navdex2025 serve as pivotal platforms for showcasing the latest technologies and innovations.

The International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) and the Naval Defence and Maritime Security Exhibition (Navdex) 2025 officially opened today their largest and most advanced editions at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and organised by Adnec Group in partnership with the UAE Ministry of Defence and Tawazun Council, this year's edition features 1,565 defence and security companies from 65 countries, a 16% increase from the previous edition. IDEX 2025 showcases the latest advancements in artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, cybersecurity, and next-generation defence solutions, providing a platform for global collaboration and innovation. Navdex 2025, the region's premier maritime defence exhibition, will feature state-of-the-art naval technologies, live demonstrations, and a dedicated space for international warships at Adnec Marina. As part of this year's expansion, Hall 14 debuts as a new addition to the exhibition, featuring the CBRNE Hub, a specialised platform dedicated to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosives defence solutions. The hub will bring together military leaders, specialists, and 38 companies from 13 countries to discuss cutting-edge innovations in this critical field. With an expanded exhibition space of 181,501 sq m, the 2025 edition also sees the participation of 41 national pavilions, with the UAE Pavilion as the largest, spanning 25,000 sq m. Additionally, more than 731 new exhibitors are making their debut, reflecting an 82% increase in first-time participants. Beyond the exhibition floor, IDEX and Navdex 2025 will host a comprehensive conference programme, where defence ministers, policymakers, and industry experts will discuss emerging security threats, defence readiness, and the evolving role of space and cyber technologies. This year's event will feature an exceptional display of naval fleets from eight nations, including the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Pakistan, Greece, South Korea, and India.
