Ola Electric integrates indigenous 4680 Bharat Cell into its vehicles

Ola Electric on Friday presented its 'India Inside' vision at the annual Sankalp 2025 event, highlighting products developed and manufactured in India using domestic technology and supply chains. The company said the approach aims to ensure supply chain sovereignty and create solutions for both India and global markets. New products and technologies The company announced the integration of its 4680 Bharat Cell , claimed to be India's first indigenously developed lithium-ion cell , into vehicles starting with the S1 Pro+ 5.2kWh and Roadster X+ 9.1kWh. The S1 Pro Sport, also powered by the Bharat Cell, will be offered with 5.2kWh and 4kWh battery packs. Bhavish Aggarwal, Founder and CMD of Ola Electric, said, 'This year's Sankalp and our vision of India Inside is accelerating this mission by commercialising 4680 Bharat Cell and rare earth free motors later this year. It shows that innovation can be imagined, engineered, and manufactured entirely in India'. The company introduced a ferrite motor that does not use rare-earth magnets, targeting phased deployment from Q3 FY26. Ola also showcased its modular Gen 4 platform, which will be used for future two-, three-, and four-wheelers, and will support multiple battery cell formats and motor types. A prototype of the Diamondhead motorcycle was displayed, featuring hub-centred steering, custom silicon, and lightweight materials. Ola targets a CY27 launch under ₹5,00,000. Software updates The company released MoveOS 6, an AI-powered operating system featuring adaptive cruise control, front collision warning, lane departure warning, terrain-specific ABS and traction control, and a multilingual interface in 11 Indian languages. The update will be available from early 2026.
