Gag Order Imposed in Alcohol Poisoning Case - Jordan News
The Attorney General, Judge Nayef Al-Samarat, has issued a gag order prohibiting the publication of any information related to investigative case No. 828/2025, known as the 'alcohol poisoning case,' starting Wednesday. اضافة اعلان The decision is based on Article 225 of the Penal Code and Articles 38 and 39 of the Press and Publications Law. In line with the ruling, Director General of the Media Commission, Basheer Al-Momani, issued a directive enforcing the court's decision. It prohibits the publication or republication of any information, photos, or videos related to the case or the investigation process. The ban also extends to all social media platforms, as explicitly stated in the order. The Grand Criminal Court has charged 25 defendants in the alcohol poisoning case. Twelve of them face charges of murder and felony murder, while 13 others are charged with aiding and abetting murder.

Jordanian authorities arrest 23 suspects in deadly methanol poisoning case
The Chief Public Prosecutor, Dr. Nayef Al-Samarat, has announced a major development in the methanol poisoning case that left nine people dead and 57 others hospitalized. The Public Prosecutor of the Grand Criminal Court has ordered the detention of 23 suspects as part of the ongoing investigation. The suspects will be held for 15 days, with the possibility of extension, in correctional and rehabilitation centers. Among them is one fugitive still at large, and another who is already serving time for a separate case. Prosecutors have officially filed charges against the suspects, dividing them as follows: 12 suspects are charged with murder and attempted murder, under Article 326 of the Penal Code. 13 others are charged with aiding and abetting in murder and attempted murder. Dr. Samarat emphasized that investigations are still underway to uncover all the facts and determine each suspect's role in the incident. He stressed that the Public Prosecution is treating the case with the utmost seriousness due to its dangerous nature and the widespread public concern. The poisoning incident, which occurred last week, resulted in nine fatalities, including a woman in her sixties, and 57 hospitalizations. All the victims had consumed alcoholic beverages that were found to contain toxic industrial methanol.

Twelve charged with murder in Jordan's contaminated alcohol case
Nayef Al-Samarat, Head of the Public Prosecution, announced Tuesday that the Grand Criminal Court's Public Prosecutor has officially begun investigations with 25 individuals in connection to the deadly methanol poisoning case that killed nine people and injured dozens more in Jordan. In a statement to Roya, Al-Samarat confirmed that 12 suspects have been charged with murder under Article 326 of the Penal Code, in addition to attempted murder charges under Articles 326, 70, and 80. Thirteen others have been charged with complicity in both murder and attempted murder, stemming from their involvement in the distribution and sale of the toxic alcohol. Al-Samarat added that investigations are still underway to uncover all circumstances surrounding the case and to assign responsibility to each suspect accordingly. The methanol poisoning incident, which occurred last week, led to the deaths of nine individuals, including a woman in her sixties, and 57 total confirmed cases of methanol poisoning.
