Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt's Daughter Shiloh Reintroduces Herself With New Name
What's in a name? For Shiloh Jolie, quite a bit. On May 30, Variety reported that the 19-year-old attended French designer Isabel Marant's capsule launch with Net-A-Porter. But she wasn't there as just another A-list offspring. She was a choreographer with a new name. Gone was 'Shiloh Jolie,' who reemerged simply as Shi and reportedly lent her choreography talents to the debut of singer-songwriter Luella's new single, 'Naïve.' This isn't the first evolution of the teen's identity. In 2024, she legally dropped 'Pitt' from her surname, becoming Shiloh Jolie — trimming the hyphen and, perhaps, some history. She's not alone. That same year, her younger sister Vivienne was credited as 'Vivienne Jolie' for her work on the Broadway musical 'The Outsiders.' It's unclear whether Vivienne's new surname has been made official, but the public-facing change was unmistakable. On May 29, Pitt broke his long silence on his lengthy divorce from Jolie. Asked if he felt relief now that the proceedings had ended, he replied: 'No, I don't think it was that major of a thing.' 'Just something coming to fruition. Legally,' he added. Jolie and Pitt share six children. Four still carry the surname 'Jolie-Pitt,' for now. Angelina Jolie's daughter Shiloh reveals new name after snubbing dad Brad Pitt
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's child, born Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, is now going by a new name. The 19-year-old appeared at the launch of Isabel Marant's capsule collection with Net-A-Porter on Thursday, May 29, in LA. Shiloh was listed as 'Shi Joli' in the event's press release, according to US Weekly. The name, which excludes her father's surname altogether, is seemingly a shortened version of her new legal name. Shi was credited at the event as a choreographer for a dance routine performed by Keoni Rose and Tako Suzuki to singer-songwriter Luella's new song Naïve. Shortly after her 18th birthday in May of last year, Shi filed documents to drop her famous dad's surname amid her parents' ongoing legal battles. She later announced her intention via an advert in the Los Angeles Times, per California law, and attended a hearing in August. According to People Magazine, the teenager was reportedly granted her wish and was legally allowed to change her name to Shiloh Jolie. Although Brad has not spoken publicly about the decision, an insider claimed that he was 'aware and upset' about the move. 'He's aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name,' a source told People Magazine. 'The reminders that he's lost his children, is of course not easy for Brad. He loves his children and misses them. It's very sad.' Shi was born in 2006, nearly a year after her parents started dating. Pitt and Jolie also share children Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16. Shi isn't the only one of her siblings to drop Pitt as a surname; her sister Zahara publicly introduced herself using only her mother's last name when she joined the sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha at Spelman College. Vivienne also appears to have done the same, with her choice revealed on the playbill for musical The Outsiders, with the credits listing her just as 'Vivienne Jolie.' It remains unclear if any of the children besides Shi have legally changed their names. The news of Shi's name change comes after Pitt's revealing interview for the June issue of GQ magazine, in which he promoted his new movie F1 and addressed the finalization of his divorce from Jolie. 'No, I don't think it was that major of a thing,' Pitt said when asked if he felt any relief after the court proceedings finally wrapped up. 'Just something coming to fruition. Legally.' More Trending That legal journey began in 2016, when Jolie filed for divorce after two years of marriage and more than a decade together. What followed was a highly publicised and often acrimonious separation, encompassing custody disputes, property disagreements, and, more recently, a contentious fight over their jointly-owned French winery, Chateau Miraval. While the divorce was officially finalised in December 2023, many of the issues between the former couple continued to play out in court, casting a long shadow over both of their careers and public images. The legal proceedings were punctuated by allegations of abuse, which Pitt has denied. Got a story? Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's Daughter debuts new name at Los Angeles fashion event
Shiloh Jolie, the 19-year-old daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, introduced a new public identity at a fashion event in Los Angeles last week. Attending the launch of Isabel Marant's capsule collection with Net-A-Porter, Shiloh was credited as a choreographer for an original dance number—under the name 'Shi Joli,' a shortened moniker inspired by her mother's surname. The exclusive 'sunset dinner' took place at Schindler's Oliver House in the Silver Lake neighborhood. Shiloh's choreography was performed by dancers Tako Suzuki and Keoni Rose, accompanied by singer Luella's live rendition of 'Naïve.' In the event's press release, her name appeared as 'Shi Joli,' marking her first professional appearance using the shortened identity. Shiloh's appearance under the new name follows her legal decision to drop 'Pitt' from her surname on her 18th birthday in May 2024. The change was made official in August, with sources confirming that she independently hired a lawyer and financed the process herself, without input from Angelina Jolie. In a statement at the time, her attorney said the decision was 'independent and significant,' made in response to 'painful events.' Brad Pitt was reportedly 'aware and upset' when Shiloh made the change. A source told People that he 'always wanted a daughter' and has struggled with the emotional distance between himself and his children. 'He loves his children and misses them,' the source said. 'It's very sad.' Shiloh isn't the only sibling to distance themselves from Pitt's name. Zahara Jolie dropped 'Pitt' during her 2023 Alpha Kappa Alpha induction, and reports suggest Maddox Jolie has also avoided using 'Pitt' on non-legal documents. Pitt and Jolie, who finalized their divorce in 2024 after an eight-year legal battle, share six children.
