Abdoulaye Doucoure, Ashley Young, Joao Virginia, Asmir Begovic, Mason Holgate and Neal Maupay are all to leave Merseyside following the expiry of their contracts. Maupay, 28, dubbed himself the Premier League's "most disliked player" during an interview with The Times last year. The Frenchman was involved in several high-profile on-field spats, including with James Maddison and Scott McTominay. Having fallen out of favour at Goodison Park, Maupay was shunted out on loan to Marseille last summer. While still technically contracted to Everton, the forward took a brutal shot at his employers last December, when he posted following the Toffees' 2-0 loss to Nottingham Forest: "Whenever I'm having a bad day I just check the Everton score and smile." Maupay is set to join Marseille on a permanent basis. BEST ONLINE CASINOS - TOP SITES IN THE UK 6 6 6 Everton confirmed that Coleman and Gueye have been offered new deals. Lens interested in Marseille's Neal Maupay

RC Lens are interested in Olympique de Marseille centre-forward Neal Maupay (28), according to a report from Foot Mercato. Maupay proved useful for Marseille at times in the season, especially before Amine Gouiri's arrival in January. However, the signing of the Algeria international saw the former Brighton and Hove Albion, Brentford, and Everton forward used more sparingly in the second part of the campaign. Advertisement Over the course of the season, he scored four goals and registered four assists in 24 appearances. Foot Mercato understands, however, that Maupay may not have a future at the Vélodrome. He is, nonetheless, attracting interest. RC Lens are interested in the Frenchman, who could even be used in the deal that could see Facundo Medina make the opposite move. The publication reports that a €20m deal for the Argentine is close, however, with Lens' interest in Maupay, the centre-forward could be used as a makeweight in a potential deal. The Marseille forward is, in any case, strongly appreciated by Lens. GFFN | Luke Entwistle

Everton make major announcement over Goodison Park plans for after Southampton clash

Goodison Park is set to become the home of Everton Women in a move that will retain the club's presence in its historic home. The men's team will play its final game at the Grand Old Lady on Sunday, ending 133 years of footballing heritage before the club moves to a new state-of-the art home on the Liverpool waterfront. Thousands of supporters will line the surrounding streets to welcome the players ahead of the game against Southampton and celebrations will continue on the pitch after the final whistle. The game will no longer mark the end of competitive football at the Goodison Road site, however, after the results of a feasibility study conducted by the club paved the way for the women's team move. READ MORE: Arsene Wenger gets emotional when talking about Everton stadium move - 'it makes me think' READ MORE: Neal Maupay Everton dig could be about to backfire after ironic new transfer claim The side, led by Brian Sorensen, currently plays its Women's Super League (WSL) matches at Walton Hall Park. That will change next season in what is the latest statement of intent from club owners The Friedkin Group (TFG) since it completed its takeover in December. TFG have since moved to restructure the club's debts to provide financial stability after years of turmoil on and off the pitch, began to implement a management overhaul behind the scenes and started to explore options to develop the docklands around the club's new stadium. Its work follows years of financial and boardroom uncertainty that have undermined the club. The turbulence has led to successive relegation fights and two points deductions for failing to comply with the Premier League's controversial Profit and Sustainability Regulations (PSR). The decision to move Everton Women to Goodison is not thought to have significant PSR implications, beyond the commercial revenue the club hopes the decision may drive. Chelsea recently sold its women's side to the club's parent company in a deal that boosted its PSR position. The US-based group has expressed a desire to throw its weight behind Everton Women and backed that up with a flurry of new signings in January. They have moved to tie down Sorensen and assistant Stephen Neligan to new deals while this landmark decision will allow the club to provide better facilities to players and supporters. Walton Hall Park's size, lack of seating, shelter and catering options could all hold back efforts to grow Everton Women, a core ambition of the Friedkins. In Italy, TFG's support of the women's side at Everton's sister club, Roma, led to a first title win two seasons ago and a domestic double last year. New Everton chief executive Angus Kinnear, who started at the club on Monday, said: 'We know how treasured Goodison is, not only to every Evertonian, but to the game itself, and being able to keep such an iconic stadium at the heart of the legacy project is something that has been incredibly important to us. From next season, we are proud to say our women will have an unrivalled permanent home in the WSL – another statement of intent as we look to build the foundations that will help us challenge for trophies. 'The women's game has grown significantly in recent years, and we believe that growth will continue and accelerate. We're under no illusions; there are obstacles we need to overcome to make this a success both practically and economically, but we're confident that we will overcome those challenges. The value of investing in the women's game has been demonstrated by our ownership group at AS Roma, with impressive results on the pitch. We believe Everton Women can emulate that success and go even further, with one of the most revered grounds in the history of the game as their permanent home.' The future of Goodison has been unclear since Everton committed to the move to Bramley-Moore Docks, though the club appeared intent on retaining a presence in the Walton community it has been central to for more than a century. Plans to demolish the stadium and develop the site into a mix of new homes, retail, leisure and office space had previously been submitted to Liverpool Council, with charity Everton in the Community (EITC) having been expected to play a role in what was termed the Goodison Legacy Project. Following the completion of the takeover last year, TFG insisted it remained committed to securing an Everton legacy at Goodison but began to explore other options - landing on one that will mean the historic stands will remain in place. While the venue will continue to host football, and while no demolition work is currently planned, the site is expected to be developed over the coming years. Seating arrangements may be reconfigured after the club completes the sale of seats to season ticket holders, a process currently underway. The dressing rooms will need to be overhauled and the concourses will be improved as part of what the club plans to be an evolution of the stadium as it is adapted to Everton Women. The move has been welcomed by current Everton Women's captain Megan Finnigan. Upon the announcement, she said: 'This move is a testament to where the women's game is right now and, more importantly, where it is heading. Goodison is a magical stadium with a deep heritage and close ties to the local community. Leading the team out for that first home match of next season will be nothing short of a career highlight – and the prospect of what Everton Women can become with such an iconic ground to call our home is hugely exciting.' EITC, which has several sites for its many important community initiatives in the surrounding streets, is expected to have a presence in the stadium as it continues its life-changing work in L4. When football returns to the hallowed turf in September, the upper tiers are expected to be closed off as part of efforts to help boost the atmosphere. The ground could also be used for some academy games, with Everton having decided to end its years-long use of Southport FC's Haig Avenue stadium for its Under-21s team. The U21s are expected to play across different venues, including the Finch Farm training ground, Walton Hall Park and potentially Goodison and Everton Stadium. Walton Hall Park will still host club grassroots and community initiatives. The decision, announced on the eve of Everton's farewell to Goodison, will add a new twist to what is set to be an emotional goodbye. The club will host Southampton at midday on Sunday for an occasion when it is expected huge crowds will gather to mark the end of an era. The club has organised a celebration after the game that will include live music and special guests, including ex-players. Dave Kelly, chair of the Everton Fan Advisory Board, acknowledged the decision may inspire mixed emotions from some supporters. He said: 'Goodison Park holds the most special place in the hearts of all Evertonians. It has been a glorious home for the men's team since 1892, and for it now to be transformed into a home for Everton Women is something I know many if not every Blue will support. The women's game is growing hugely, and it is only fitting that we have a ground that provides the opportunity for Everton Women to be at the forefront of that growth, enabling us to hopefully challenge for honours. It is a historic moment for the club and our wonderful stadium.' Fellow FAB member Julie Makin, who is secretary of Everton Women Supporters' Club, added: 'We are absolutely delighted that Goodison Park's legacy will live on and we are proud to continue to call Goodison Park our home. This is a real statement of intent, which shows just how committed they are to backing the women's team and making Everton a force at the very top of the women's game in this country, once again. "Captain Megan Finnigan and the team make us very proud every time they step out onto the pitch, and it is only fitting that, from our next season, they will be stepping onto the pitch in a stadium that Evertonians have called home for 133 years. The story will carry on. The glory of our team.'

Neal Maupay Everton dig could be about to backfire after ironic new transfer claim

One of Neal Maupay's sniping online predictions about Everton could be about to come true. Although not in a way in which the French forward would necessarily want. The striker, who scored just one goal for the Blues in 32 appearances, is currently on loan at Marseille and is set to leave Goodison Park on a permanent deal this summer. The French club have an obligation to make his loan deal a full-time one. Although he is still an Everton player, Maupay has taken frequent digs at the club and their supporters in the last couple of years. READ MORE: Angus Kinnear start date confirmed as major Everton changes underway READ MORE: Michael Keane opens up on Everton future and chance to play in Goodison Park farewell The forward infamously posted a meme from the Shawshank Redemption in the summer after his exit from the Blues was confirmed. He also tweeted a dig at Everton after they lost to Nottingham Forest in December: "Whenever I'm having a bad day I just check the Everton score and smile." After that post, Maupay then responded to an enraged Everton supporter with "See you in the Champions League next season!" followed up by "*championship". Alas, Everton will not be playing in the Championship next season. But their former one-goal striker could be if reports in France are to be believed. According to Jeunes Footeux (h/t Sport Witness), after Marseille sign the striker they will look to move him on. It's claimed Maupay has some suitors in the Premier League and also in the Championship! It's suggested that the 28-year-old has not done enough to convince head coach Roberto De Zerbi that he should stay at the Stade Velodrome. Marseille recently confirmed a Champions League place for next season and sit second in Ligue 1. Maupay has scored four league goals in 21 appearances over the course of his loan move. Everton supporters are not the only fanbase to have an issue with Maupay. The forward was subject to abuse from Nice fans in January in the form of numerous banners. The Frenchman caused a stir in the summer when he opted to join Marseille instead of their domestic rivals. Maupay started his career at Nice and they were said to be keen on signing him again for this season. A banner was unfurled during the game reading: "Maupay – you've gone from a son of the club to a son of a b*tch." Another banner read "the sun is setting on the city of the rat hunt begin".
