Jordyn Bahl has been named a finalist for the 2025 Honda Sport Award for Softball. The other finalists are Texas Tech's NiJaree Canady, Arkansas' Bri Ellis, and Tennessee's Karlyn Pickens. The Honda Sports Award recognizes athletic achievement, scholastic success, and community involvement and is presented to female athletes in 12 different NCAA-sanctioned sports. The award winner must reflect 'not only athletic achievement but also the ideals of team contribution, scholastic endeavor, school and community involvement, and those personal characteristics as are stated in the philosophy of the NCAA.' Bahl is the fourth Husker in program history to be nominated for the Honda Sport Award, joining Ali Viola, Lori Sippel, and Denise Day. Day is the only Cornhusker to have won the award, winning for the 1985 season. The Nebraska native finished the season at the plate with a .462 batting average, a .555 on-base percentage, and a slugging percentage of .988. She had 23 home runs, two triples, 16 doubles, 78 hits, 72 runs, and 66 RBIs. As a pitcher, Bahl had a record of 26-8 with a 1.56 ERA. She had 286 strikeouts over 206.1 innings pitched. The winner of the award will be announced after voting by administrators from over 1,000 NCAA member schools. Nebraska (43-13), making its third appearance in a super regional and its first since 2014. can clinch a berth in the Women's College World Series with a win in Game 2 on Saturday.

(AP) — Jordy Bahl threw a one-hit shutout and hit a home run, Samantha Bland drove in four runs and Nebraska routed Southeastern Louisiana 8-0 to win the Baton Rouge Regional on Sunday. The Cornhuskers (41-13) advance to the Super Regional at seventh-seeded Tennessee next weekend. The Lions (50-16) beat 10th-seeded host LSU 4-3 and 8-7 but lost to Nebraska in between, 14-1. Advertisement Bahl hit a 3-2 pitch leading off the bottom of the first inning for her 22nd home run and fourth of the regional, giving herself all the support she would need. Ava Kuszak also hit a home run one out later, giving her 20 and making Bahl and Kuszak the first two Cornhuskers to have 20 home runs in the same season.. Bland had a two-run double in the second and a two-run single in the fourth. Bahl finished 2 for 2 with three runs scored. Bland was 3 for 4 and Kuszak 2 for 3 with three RBI. Nebraska fans react to Jordy Bahl's no-hitter
Nebraska softball fans are sharing their reactions online after pitcher Jordy Bahl threw her first no-hitter as a Cornhusker. The no-no was also the 41st no-hitter in Nebraska softball history. Bahl threw her fourth career no-hitter as the Huskers defeated the Northern Colorado Bears by a score of 10-0 in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday in New Mexico. The last program no-no came from Sarah Harness in a 5-0 victory over New Mexico State on Feb. 24, 2023. The pitcher allowed no hits, stuck out five batters, walked two, and hit two batters in the victory. She also did not allow a ball to leave the infield. Through four games this weekend, Bahl is 2-0 in the circle with 10.0 innings thrown. At the plate, she is 6-for-12 with four home runs, two doubles, and eight RBIs. Bahl improved to 3-1 on the season. Nebraska will finish the Troy Cox Classic on Sunday, Feb. 16, at 10:00 a.m. CT with a rematch against Montana.
