‘Hopefully we can get him back' – Hibs star Nectar Triantis tipped for Easter Road return by fans' favourite

The 22-year-old has spent the last year and a half at the Easter Road club over two spells. A third would likely mean Hibs paying a transfer fee to the Black Cats to sign him permanently. But Boyle, who jetted out with Triantis, Lewis Miller and Jack Iredale on international duty yesterday, reckons he'd be worth it. He said: 'Nectar's been brilliant. He's had a really good spell of consistency, which is perfect. 'He's added assists and goals, and his defensive work's been brilliant. 'I think that's just what he needed, a long run of games. We've really benefitted from it, so we can be thankful to him. 'Hopefully, we can get him back — and not on loan this time. He's going to attract attention so that's up to the club to deal with. 'The international recognition, plus he got my Player of the Year vote. He's kept himself level-headed and he's in for a fantastic future.' Boyle's own future had been up in the air right up until the final week of the season. But the 32-year-old stressed he always wanted to extend his ten-year stint at Easter Road. David Gray opens up on THAT Cup Final winner for Hibs against Rangers and how he felt like a 'wild horse' as he celebrated And following Hibees' third-place finish he is excited to see just how far the club can go. Asked what he'd still like to achieve, he smiled: 'A lot! Win the league, win the Scottish Cup, win the League Cup . . . 'I'd like to get a century of goals — I'm on 99 currently — and maybe get to 400 appearances. That would be nice. 'The last time we finished third we didn't get to enjoy it through the Covid years. But now we have special days like this and everyone can enjoy it together. 'We can see how much the club and the fan base are together. 'Fingers crossed, there are many more memories — and if we can go on a wee European adventure, there'll be great memories from that too.' 'A football team worth supporting'

We asked for your views on Hibs' 2-2 draw against what some of you said:Kenny: Touch of the old Hibs again. Tippy tappy stuff and Rocky Bushiri don't mix. We really should have been 2-0 down but for the clowns running VAR. we need to learn that we can't keep giving away cheap goals. Apart from that we had some good spells with two well taken goals. All in all a vey good Hibs played well and used the wing-backs very well. We clearly should have been two down but these things level themselves out over a season. Great to see the ground nearly full. Hopefully we can get Nectar Triantis signed for a three-year Great season after a flaky start. Squad looking strong and settled, with Junior Hoilett hopefully staying and Triantis looking outside our price bracket while likely not required by Sunderland, a couple of signings needed (one forward, one midfielder) plus a keeper and we could do well in Europa League or Conference League, whichever. But good end to the season - enjoy Sunshine on Leith!Chris: Amazing season, we were never playing badly, we just had a run of silly mistakes that cost us a goal every time, once that stopped and the belief and trust in David Gray and his assistants kicked in, we showed the true Hibernian, can't wait for the next season, can we take second?Derek: Hibs deserved a bit of luck going their way, they have been on the receiving end to many times. Great game of football today from both teams .Sandy: It's the fight in Hibernian that is footballing class, twice a goal behind, and twice bringing it back to level with Rangers who turned up to play. The talent that is Dwight Gayle laying on a world class pass to Martin Boyle and it just got away from him. Pure magic. Hibs came back from bottom place and a bad start to the season, to finish third in the league. Now that's a football team worth supporting. What a ride.

Triantis EPL dreams alive as Black Cats reach Wembley

Former Central Coast Mariners midfielder Nectar Triantis could be in line to fly the flag as Australia's only player in the Premier League next season. A number of major cards need to fall in place first though for that to be the case. The 22-year-old, named Scottish Football's 2024/25 Young Player of the Year on Sunday after a hugely successful season-long loan with Hibernian, would have watched the English Championship playoff semi-final second leg with interest from across the border. His parent club Sunderland booked their ticket into soccer's richest game against Sheffield United at Wembley Stadium with a late goal on Tuesday night. Whether the Sydneysider is recalled to the northeast of England at season's end remains to be seen. Socceroos Massimo Luongo and Cam Burgess were relegated with Ipswich Town and won't play in the EPL unless they move on. Both Garang Kuol (Newcastle United) and Joe Gauci (Aston Villa) were loaned out this season and their futures are also far from clear. Triantis's lifeline comes thanks to Sunderland defender Dan Ballard's header in the third minute of added time after extra time clinched a 1-1 draw with Frank Lampard's Coventry City on the night and a 3-2 aggregate win to send the Stadium of Light into raptures. However, Black Cats boss Regis Le Bris knows their late heroics will count for little if they do not get past the Blades on May 24 to seal a return to the Premier League after an absence of eight years. "It shows that this season was fantastic. I think it's really important to say that because you can lose, you can win in the end, but what we lived together this season was absolutely brilliant and we don't have to forget that," the Frenchman said. "After that, it's really important to think about Wembley now because one more game, it will be another tough challenge and we are now really focused on that future." Ballard's header, which ultimately settled a tie that was fought tooth and nail over two legs, came as Sunderland finally rallied after seeing their 2-1 first-leg lead cancelled out by Ephron Mason-Clark, with Coventry enjoying the better of much of what had gone before. Le Bris knows they will have to steel themselves once again for the clash with Chris Wilder's Blades, with both sides having won their home game during the regular season. "They are a really good team, well-organised with different threats, good experience. They were in the Premier League last season, so another tough challenge," Le Bris added. "But I think to be promoted at the end, you have to break something and it will be tough, but we'll have our ambition, we'll have our desire to win and we'll give all the quality we have in this group, the character, the ambition and so on."
