Playing Nice and The White Lotus stars team in first-look at new Sky thriller

Neil Cross, the mastermind behind Luther, is set to thrill audiences once again with a new Sky original series, The Iris Affair, slated for release later this year. The creator of edge-of-your-seat dramas such as Spooks and Hard Sun, Neil Cross is bringing his latest creation to life, promising to make The Iris Affair one of the most anticipated shows of 2025. With a cast featuring Tom Hollander from The White Lotus and Niamh Algar of Playing Nice fame, the first glimpse of this sun-drenched thriller has just been unveiled to eager fans. The series, comprising eight parts, will be brought to the screen by directors Terry McDonough, known for his work on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, and Sarah O'Gorman, acclaimed for her direction in A Gentleman in Moscow and The Witcher. Sky's synopsis teases: "The Iris Affair is a tense and cinematic chase thriller that pits two brilliant minds against each other in a deadly game of hide and seek across Italy", reports the Express. "When enigmatic genius Iris Nixon (Algar) cracks a string of complex online puzzles, she's led to a piazza in Florence where she meets charismatic entrepreneur Cameron Beck (Hollander). "He invites her to come and work for him to unlock a powerful and top-secret piece of technology. Her curiosity piqued, she accepts. But when Iris discovers its dangerous potential, she steals the journal containing the device's activation sequence-and vanishes. "What follows is a relentless pursuit, from a remote cabin in Sardinia through the bustling streets of Rome, as Cameron races to find Iris in a high-stakes game where trust is dangerous and failure could be catastrophic." The Iris Affair, with its captivating premise and top-notch talent behind the scenes, boasts a star-studded cast alongside Hollander and Algar for this thrilling journey. Joining the lead duo are renowned actors like Game of Thrones' Kristofer Hivju, Arcane's Harry Lloyd and Doctor Who's Sacha Dhawan. TV lovers can now get Sky TV, Netflix and Discovery+ for £22 per month with the new Ultimate TV bundle. This includes more than 140 channels live and on-demand without a satellite dish or aerial and includes hit shows like The White Lotus, The Last of Us and Squid Game. The supporting cast is rounded off by Meréana Tomlinson, Maya Sansa, Peter Sullivan, Debi Mazar, Marco Leonardi, Angela Bruce and Lorenzo De Moor. The series, created and showrun by Cross, is being produced by Fremantle, with scripts penned by Susan E. Connolly and Ian Scott McCullough. While an official release date is yet to be confirmed, this must-see thriller is set to hit our screens by the end of 2025. The Iris Affair will premiere in 2025 on Sky and NOW.

Powys rally set to return to Builth Wells for 2025 event

A rally stage is set to return to its venue near Builth Wells for its 2025 event, with organisers saying it will be 'based in the very heart' of the town. The 2025 Nicky Grist Stages has been given the official go-ahead to run on its scheduled date of Saturday, July 12, with the rally set to return to Builth Wells. Organisers have confirmed that the stage will start in Strand Street while the finish will be on the banks of the River Wye and the service area on the Groe. Commenting on the upcoming event, Nicky Grist said: 'I am delighted that we have got what is probably the most-liked stage of the Nicky Grist Stages back in the 2025 edition – Route 60. READ MORE 'Route 60 is such a fantastic stage with wonderful high speed and flowing corners that nearly everyone enjoys. I was also overjoyed when we found out that Storm Darragh did not affect us anywhere near as badly as other stages in Wales and I am looking forward to catching up with everyone at the event in Builth Wells in July.' 'At the beginning of the year there were some doubts as to whether we would be able to run the 2025 Nicky Grist Stages, thanks to the damage caused in the Welsh forests by Storm Darragh and military training operations combining to seriously curtail the stage mileage available to us on both NRW and MOD land,' admits Neil Cross, Nicky Grist Stages Clerk of the Course. 'However, with the invaluable co-operation and hard work of NRW, the MOD and Rally4Wales we have instead put together a fantastic route which brings back firm favourite stages and reconfiguring old classics.' Organisers also thanked Powys County Council, Builth Wells Town Council, Builth Wells RFC and the businesses and residents of Builth Wells for their support in the event.

Why BBC Podcasts Are Moving to Its Website and App Outside the U.K.

Listeners and fans of BBC podcasts outside of Britain will soon get to discover and access them via and its app, while the BBC Sounds audio service will become exclusive to U.K. audiences. The change is set to take effect in the spring. 'The newly launched audio section of and app is curated with international audiences in mind, making the BBC's vast portfolio of current and archived podcasts, including hits like Global News Podcast, World of Secrets and Infinite Monkey Cage, plus BBC Radio 4 and World Service radio stations, easier to find,' the British broadcaster said in a post Monday. Through this new user experience, listeners can explore deeper context and analysis on select topics, gaining a richer understanding of the issues that matter most — all without leaving the platform.' As part of this, the BBC will also be making BBC Sounds available exclusively to people in the U.K., 'ending access to the service for international users' beginning in spring, the BBC said. 'U.K. users who go on holiday (outside the U.K.) will still be able to use the BBC Sounds app for a limited period.' It highlighted that the changes are part of an evolution of the BBC's services as it looks to 'continue to build a single, one-stop destination for the best of BBC journalism and storytelling.' Last year, the BBC and Amazon Music struck a deal that made BBC podcasts available on the streaming service outside the U.K. for the first time. Louise la Grange, senior vp, BBC Audio, Digital News and Streaming at BBC Studios, highlighted that the trust and quality that the BBC brand stands for is one key reason for the appeal of its podcasts and updated strategy. 'As the world's most trusted news organization, listeners come to us for our award-winning journalism and world-class storytelling,' she told THR. 'Whether it's our authoritative take on global news events in the Global News Podcast, gripping investigative series such as World of Secrets or fascinating storytelling in History's Heroes, our content is trusted and loved by audiences around the world.' Are there any countries that are the biggest markets for BBC podcasts outside the U.K.? 'We are proud to say that our content is listened to in every single country on the planet,' the executive told THR. 'But when you focus on specific markets, outside of the U.K., we have incredibly strong followings and listenership in the United States, Australia, Canada, Germany and Japan.' The new podcast business strategy is also expected to help continue to grow advertising revenue opportunities outside the U.K., La Grange said, explaining: 'The addition of audio will drive further engagement on our platforms and will open up new advertising monetization opportunities — both in the audio itself but also as part of 360 (degree) campaigns spanning the rest of the BBC's ad real estate.'
