The Best Ways to Style a Layered Bob With Bangs for Summer
Bobs and bangs may be all the rage right now—from choppy bangs to the tousled, French-girl bob—but if you're looking for something that's versatile and relatively low-maintenance, it's time to consider the layered bob with bangs haircut. 'I love a layered bob with bangs,' says Kamila Pruszek, co-owner of Blue Tit Salon in London. 'They suit all face shapes and hair textures.' Bangs can be a little high-maintenance, but Pruszek has this excellent hack: 'You can just wash your bangs daily to keep them looking fresh, no need to wash your whole head. A quick refresh with your fingers or a light blow-dry is usually enough to keep them in shape,' she tells ELLE. As the name suggests, this is essentially a cut that sits above the shoulder, with layers chopped in and accompanying bangs. It can be tailored to your features and preferences; think sideswept or wispy bangs, or a longer lob, if you're not ready for the commitment. 'The bangs add a bold, stylish edge, and when paired with layers, they give the cut so much movement and shape,' says Valentina Ingrosso, senior creative director at Neil Moodie Studio in Spitalfields. 'We're seeing everything from sleek finishes to bouncy blowouts and lived-in natural textures—it's super versatile and totally on-trend.' Both Pruszek and Ingrosso agree that this short haircut with bangs is suitable for all. 'There are different ways to cut this hairstyle for it to suit the different textures of hair and face shapes,' says Ingrosso. She cautions that those with thin hair might experience flicked ends as the bob starts to grow out, so do bear that in mind and ask your hairdresser for styling tips that's tailored to your own hair. Echoes Pruszek: 'It's a great option for curly, wavy, or straight hair. The bangs can help frame the face and bring attention to your eyes, while the layers add volume and movement.'
