Cadw half term family-friendly events at Laugharne Castle

Cadw has announced a range of activities during the May half-term, including at Laugharne Castle. From May 25 to June 2, visitors will be able to enjoy historical experiences, interactive workshops, and hands-on activities. Gwilym Hughes, head of Cadw, said: "Our lively schedule of events across May half-term will hopefully inspire pride in Welsh heritage, spark curiosity, and offer fun for all ages. "It's an opportunity for families to get out and learn about the rich history that makes Wales so unique. "Children go free with any adult membership, offering great value to keep the whole family entertained over the holidays and throughout the year." There will be more than 20 events during the school holidays. Some of the highlights include a naval living history weekend at Laugharne Castle on May 31 and June 1, where visitors can meet Welsh sailors of Nelson's Navy and enjoy interactive fun, including a cannon firing at midday. Before that, there will be a birds of prey event at Laugharne Castle on May 24 and 25, where visitors can get up close with the birds and enjoy flying displays. A Cadw membership offers free event entry and unlimited access to 132 historic places across Wales, offering a unique way to explore Wales' rich heritage. Children also go free with any adult membership. A selection of Cadw sites including Valle Crucis Abbey, Castell Cilgerran and Bryn Celli Ddu burial chamber, will also be open for guided tours throughout the summer. Half term adventures: Cadw brings Welsh history to life with family events

Birds of prey and cannon fire at Laugharne Castle headline west Wales programme FAMILIES across Pembrokeshire and beyond are in for a treat this May half term, as heritage body Cadw launches a packed calendar of family-friendly events at historic sites throughout Wales. Running from Saturday, May 25 to Sunday, June 2, the events aim to bring Welsh history vividly to life through immersive workshops, live reenactments, and hands-on activities for all ages. Among the highlights in west Wales is a Naval Living History Weekend at Laugharne Castle on Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1. Visitors can meet the Welsh sailors of Nelson's Navy, with interactive displays and cannon firing at midday each day. Also at Laugharne Castle, Birds of Prey will swoop into action across the bank holiday weekend, with expert falconers offering flying displays and educational talks on Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25 from 11:00am to 4:00pm.
