The Best Memorial Day Mattress Deals (and Bedding, Too!)
Nena Farrell Julia Forbes There's still time between now and Memorial Day, but the mattress and bedding sales are already underway. All products featured on WIRED are independently selected by our editors. However, we may receive compensation from retailers and/or from purchases of products through these links. Memorial Day is fast approaching, because time only passes faster as we get older. You know what else we need as we get older? A better mattress. I can't rave enough about how much changing my mattress helped my back pain, taking me from starting each day half hunched over to feeling like a springy teen again. While a mattress can't turn back time, a better mattress can lead to a lot of things: Better sleep! Better support! Less pain overnight! One of the best times to shop for a mattress is leading up to Memorial Day. We've rounded up everything we recommend for a better night's sleep that's currently on sale ahead of the holiday on May 26. Everything listed is based on queen size, with the discount listed based on the price we usually see these mattresses and sheets available for. Looking for more bedding and sleep advice? Don't miss our guides to the Best Mattresses, Best Mattresses for Back Pain, Best Sheets, Best Pillows, How to Clean Everything on Your Bed, and How to Arrange Your Room for the Best Sleep. Updated May 21, 2025: We've added more mattress and bedding deals and checked that all deals and prices were still live. Best Memorial Day Mattress Deals Courtesy of Avocado; Getty Images Here's a sale that will have you saying 'it's an Avocado [mattress], thanks!' (IYKYK, we miss the Vine days). The organic materials of these mattresses are no joke, though, and provide you with support by way of materials like organic latex. You can use code HONOR15 to get 15 percent off the Avocado Green mattress, or HONOR10 to get 10 percent off the Eco Organic Hybrid mattress. The maker of our favorite mattress has kicked off its Memorial Day Sale with a nice discount: 25 percent off with the code MEMDAY25. It's not the lowest discount we've seen, but the lowest these mattresses go is 27 percent off, so it's pretty close. You'll also get a free sheet set and mattress protector with the purchase of any Luxe or Elite mattress. The savings shown are based on the usual price we see. 'Organic' pertains to mattresses too, and this is the central theme of Naturepedic's mattresses. Organic cotton, wool, and latex work together to lend you both pressure relief and support. And to really push the envelope (or rather, box), you can customize the firmness on both the left and right sides of the EOS Classic mattress. The entire site is 20 percent off with the code MEMORIAL20, which you can apply at checkout for a mattress or the brand's fantastic sheets. It's hard to say 'no' to Nolah's Memorial Day deal (and the Evolution Hybrid mattress, if I'm being honest). Yes, it's an exceptional mattress that was built for relieving pressure and supporting lower backs, but 35 percent off your purchase and two free pillows is pretty sweet. Plus, WIRED readers get an extra something-something ($50 off with code WIRED50). We usually see some kind of sale already underway at Nolah, but these are better prices than you'll regularly find. Brooklyn Bedding makes a whole lotta mattresses, all made in Arizona! Fan favorites (not just for us but for sleepers out there near and far) include mattresses like the Brooklyn Aurora Luxe Hybrid, which is a whole other level for keeping you sleeping cool. For Memorial Day, you can get up to 30 percent off sitewide with code MEMORIAL30. Birch is the organic sister brand of Helix, and it's running the same early Memorial Day Sale with the code MEMDAY25 for 25 percent off site-wide. While you won't get extra sheets, you will also get two of Birch's Eco-Rest Pillows with any mattress purchase. Birch makes both our favorite organic mattress and our favorite mattress topper (organic or not!), and it's a great choice if you're looking to go organic in your bedroom. After all, you spend eight hours a day sleeping in there. The savings shown are based on the usual price we see, rather than the full list price. Bear's Elite Hybrid Mattress is a fantastic choice if you suffer from back pain. Bear makes some of the firmest mattresses we've ever tried, but even as a side sleeper, I found this mattress comfortable all night long. Bear's Memorial Day Sale has everything 35 percent off, plus two free pillows, with the code MEMORIALDAY. Bear usually runs a 30 percent discount on its site, so it's not a huge discount off what we usually see, but it's still a great price for a great mattress. The discount is based on the price we usually see rather than the mattress's base price. Eyeballing a Saatva mattress? It's your time to act, as the brand's Memorial Day mattress sales are officially rocking and rolling. You can save $400 off the base price of a $1,000+ mattress, so that includes everything from the uber-popular Saatva Classic to the more specialized Saatva Rx (which may be heaven-sent for sleepers that want some soft support for their back and joint pain). You'll want to use our exclusive links below to get the discount added, or click this link here. You can also get the brand's fantastic percale sheets and down alternative pillows at a discount, too, to go with your new mattress. Leesa's Early Access Memorial Day Sale is code-free, with 30 percent off certain mattresses on its site. Our favorites from Leesa are its cooling mattresses, specifically the Leesa Sapira Chill and the Leesa Legend Chill Hybrid. You can score both during the early sale, with the discount shown based on the price we usually see. Canadian mattress brand Essentia is throwing its name into the Memorial Day mattress sales hat, with 25 percent off sitewide and a free gift with purchase. You'll see the discount applied once you add the mattress to your cart. The brand's specialty is organic latex mattresses, and we've noted that Tatami organic mattresses are on our radar since they give off good pressure relief for those battling with back pain on the reg. Best Memorial Day Pillows and Sheets Deals If you're interested in trying bamboo sheets, our favorite splurge set is on sale right now. Cozy Earth is known for its decadently soft bamboo sheet set, and while there's a Memorial Day Sale already live that gives you a discount for buying three items or more, you can use our code WIRED to get 35 percent off anything on Cozy Earth's site. We've tested tons of Cozy Earth items, from bamboo sheets and comforters to its towels and even socks, and have been impressed at every turn with how soft the items are. I've slept on every major sheet brand and every type of sheet, and the brand I recommend shopping the most is The Citizenry. This artisanal brand makes he best soft yet breathable percale sheets and the best linen sheets for the price, both of which are organic. You'll even find The Citizenry's sheets in the WIRED 101 that lists our 101 favorite gear ever. The sheets are already a great price for what you're getting and aren't often on sale, which makes the current Memorial Day Sale so exciting. Everything on the site is 20 percent off, no code required, including both sheet sets we can't stop recommending. Brooklinen is a big favorite in the world of bedding, and the company makes a huge range of products. Sheets! Comforters! Pillows! Towels! Bathrobes! You name it, Brooklinen probably has it, and it's all on sale for 25 percent off right now for Brooklinen's Memorial Day Sale. We're especially big fans of the down comforter and down pillow, but Brooklinen's super crisp organic percale sheets is one of our favorite sets of organic bedding. Nuzzie is a smaller bedding brand that primarily makes fantastic weighted blankets, but also makes a set of my favorite cooling bamboo sheets. Nuzzie's running a spring sale with the code SPRING15 to get 15 percent off both sheets and weighted blankets, and I can't recommend both enough as we head into hotter weather. I also really love how lightweight Nuzzie's Ice Knit weighted blankets are and how cool the bamboo cover is, especially as someone who prefers a gentle weight over a heavy press of a blanket. (I use the 12-pound, even though that's below the recommended 10 percent of my weight.) Purple makes our favorite pillow, the Purple Freeform, which is incredibly lofty and bouncy thanks to its high-density memory foam and polyester fill core, plus the honeycomb-shaped gel layer that surrounds it. It's fully adjustable, too. Both it and the nonadjustable Purple Harmony (which has multiple sizes instead to replace the adjustability) are on sale right now on Purple's website during its early Memorial Day Sale. Buffy's gear is just about always on sale for 20 percent off. It's currently calling that discount its spring sale, but you can find it all the time. But time and time again, I'm so impressed by Buffy's bedding that I don't even care if it's not a unique sale. You should still shop it. Buffy's down-alternative Cloud Pillow is one of my favorite pillows. I like it much, much more than any real down I've tried, and it uses recycled plastic bottles instead in its design. And both its Supima cotton percale sheets and eucalyptus-based Breeze Sheets are fantastic for hot weather. Power up with unlimited access to WIRED . The Tineco Pure One Station 5 Is a Stick Vac That Empties Itself
When you have three different floors in your house, like I do, using a cordless stick vacuum is the key ingredient to keeping them clean. It's easy to carry around to different areas, compact enough to vacuum two staircases without pulling a muscle, and still wide enough to vacuum an entire living and dining area in a few minutes. The downsides, of course, are twofold: the risk of the battery running out, and the canister limit on how much dust and dirt it can gather. I've tried a few stick vacuums, but the one that makes these two downsides feel nonexistent is the Tineco Pure One Station 5 vacuum. That's because it comes with a freestanding charging station that not only holds up and charges your vacuum but also will auto-empty it into the larger canister in said base station. Suddenly, there's no canister-emptying step to deal with after each vacuuming session: I just pop it in the station, and it takes care of itself. It's a pretty handy package that costs a pretty penny as well. But the freestanding charging and emptying base station has made the Pure One Station 5 feel incredibly convenient and less irritating than having to constantly empty a tiny canister. Plus, it's powerful enough to suck up cat litter and sneaky dust bunnies as well as my toddler's Hansel and Gretel-esque food trails around the house. Out of the Box Photograph: Nena Farrell The vacuum is easy to build, coming with the vacuum base, Tineco's ZeroTangle brush, and a tube to connect the two together, plus a 2-in-1 crevice brush and the base station. There's a little cutout in the base station to store that crevice accessory, plus a power cord to power the suction in the base station and charge the vacuum. The base station has a 2.5-liter dustbin capacity, larger than you'd find on our favorite floor vacuums like the Dyson Ball Animal 3 Extra—that one has about 1.5 liters. That means you'll have plenty of vacuuming sessions before you need to empty the base station. The dustbin on the actual vacuum itself is much smaller, but a normal size for a cordless vacuum. I was usually still able to vacuum an entire floor of my house, cat litter and all, without needing to take an emptying break, but households with lots of deep-pile carpeting or fluffy dogs could fill this up much faster. The station promises to both empty the attached dustbin and self-clean the vacuum by pushing air through the vacuum's filter, tube, brush attachment, and of course, the recently emptied dustbin. You can hear the sound change when it switches from just emptying into the 'cleaning' stage of pushing air through the vacuum. Both stages are pretty noisy and remind me of the sound you hear when a robot vacuum is emptying itself into a similar base station.

Who Said Vacuums Can't Be Cute?
Apr 19, 2025 10:09 AM Worx's petite cube vacuum appeals to my desire for cleanliness, control, and cute things in my life. Photograph: Rave; Getty Images If you buy something using links in our stories, we may earn a commission. Learn more. I might be a mom, but I've become one hell of a dad with my new hobby: vacuuming the cars every weekend. My adorable, Cheerio-throwing toddler drives me to the end of my rope each week after seeing the state our cars end up in. Our vehicles descend into a madness of half-eaten snacks, piles of sand (there's somehow always sand), a toy graveyard, and random trash by every Saturday morning, if not Tuesday afternoon. I can't let it stand. Nothing chases away my Sunday scaries like getting our cars spick-and-span on the inside, leaving me excited for that Monday-morning day-care drive with a clean car. So it's no surprise I have a handful of vacuums I've tried in my never-ending quest to keep our cars somewhat clean. I've used a stick vacuum base, a handheld vac, and even tiny vacuums that are meant for countertop messes. But the cutest one of all is easy to name: the Worx Cordless Cube Vacuum. Does a vacuum need to be cute? Of course not. But being able to get my car clean (already something that brings me joy) with an item I find visually pleasing and adorably small scratches my brain in the best kind of way. Photograph: Nena Farrell Worx 20V Cordless Cube Vac Ready to Roll This little vacuum is made for on-the-go cleaning. The handle has the power button on it, so you can easily turn it off or switch the power level while holding it. This makes it convenient to spot clean or move around to the other side of the car without having to pause. Literally handy. Also handy? The two included attachments have storage compartments inside the vacuum's body, so you can easily switch around what tool you're using or store it away without needing to leave wherever you're vacuuming. For such a small vacuum, it's doing the work of larger vacuums that double as storage for their own accessories. It doesn't have a massive dustbin, though the 7-ounce capacity is similar to the Dyson Humdinger ($250), our favorite handheld vacuum. I found it to be plenty of space as I vacuumed up the entirety of my four-seater sedan—trunk and carseat included—though it likely wouldn't be enough space if you were cleaning something more intense than a dirty car. The Worx should get about 10 minutes on the high-speed setting and about 25 minutes on the low-speed setting. I usually vacuum on the low speed, though I rarely run the vacuum for more than 10 consecutive minutes. This little cube is also plenty small enough to stash anywhere in your garage or hall closet without being a burden. I'm stashing mine on the tool shelf in our garage. The battery clips on and off and looks like the base for a drill, and it comes with a little charging base to charge it. You should charge it after use since it's so small, unless you're certain you vacuum your car in a handful of minutes. The battery isn't designed for extreme weather, so while I could throw it in my trunk during spring here in sunny San Diego, it's best used at a normal room (or garage) temperature. Fun Size Small things bring me joy, and I don't think I'm alone in feeling that way. There are articles and videos and Reddit threads dedicated to exploring why we love miniature items. While this cube vacuum isn't so small that it could be a dollhouse vacuum, the petite take on what could have been a massive shop vacuum still satisfies that part of my brain that wants things around me to be cute and small. Much in the way tiny things make our brains feel in control and organized, vacuuming my car brings me that sense of satisfaction and power over one of the messy aspects of my life. Getting to do it with a fun little tool only adds to the serotonin boost of what would otherwise feel like a monotonous task. It also offers some of the escapism my little Lego sets once offered me, though instead of a made-up universe, it's a life where everything is as clean and organized as the vacuum lines in my car trunk. This little cube vacuum might not have the most accessories, the biggest dustbin, or the longest running time, but it's a nice in-between of all these features and a good size for the art of car vacuuming. Because for some of us, it is an art, or at least an escape from the cycle of messes that plague our lives.

The Aura Aspen Digital Photo Frame Is Made for Vertical Pics
My 2-year-old son thinks all photo frames are digital. He reaches up to the still frames in my parents' house to swipe to the next photo. While in some ways this sounds a little dystopian, I also find myself a little impressed. The Aura frame in my living room, however, has completely convinced my son that it's an analog picture frame. I can't even convince him to take a bath. Aura's range of digital picture frames is the best out there. The Aura Carver ($149) and Walden ($299) are both top picks in our guide for a reason, thanks to their impressive design and matte screens that don't feel like just an iPad set up to flash photos at you. As of today, there's a new kid on the block: the Aura Aspen. The Aspen sits right in between the Carver and Walden when it comes to size and price, and it packs the 4:3 ratio that's perfect for smartphone photographers. It's a great addition to the lineup, and if you're usually taking photos with your phone—especially if those photos tend to be vertical—this is the frame for you. Frame Job Photograph: Nena Farrell The biggest difference from the rest of Aura's lineup is the size. The Aspen has an 11.8-inch screen—larger than the Carver's 10.1 inches but smaller than the gargantuan 15-inch Walden frame. It packs the same anti-glare display you'll find in the Aspen and Walden, along with a 4:3 ratio and 1,600 x 1,200 HD display. That ratio matches most smartphone cameras, making it a great choice for your daily photos. Otherwise, the software inside is the same you'll find on all of Aura's displays, and you'll use the same app to control it. The Aspen also has dual orientation, meaning it can sit in either portrait or landscape mode. This is similar to the Mason ($192) (which Aura is actually sunsetting this year), though you'll need to reach around the back to switch the stand's position in order to change the orientation. It only takes a few seconds to do this, though I think most people will pick a single orientation and focus on uploading photos to match it. I chose vertical mode, since I usually take pictures in this orientation. For the few landscape shots I added, the frame included the entire photo with black bars above and below. If you're more of a landscape photographer, it's easy to put the frame in landscape mode instead to best suit your pictures. It's also a nice size for large rooms, like open floor spaces or large living rooms, so you can still see and enjoy the photo from various spots around the room. My parents have the 10-inch Carver frame at their house, and while I like it, it's much easier to enjoy my photos on the Aspen from across the room with the larger screen. Photograph: Nena Farrell

GHD's Duet Blowdry Packs Power and Fantastic Styling—for a Price
GHD says the Duet Blowdry checks the surface temperature of the device 400 times per second to make sure it's maintaining the heat throughout your use—even more than the 250 times a second in GHD's similarly equipped Chronos Max hair straightener (7/10, WIRED Review). Also similar to the Chronos straightener, which has just one heat setting of 365 degrees Fahrenheit, the Blowdry only heats to a single heat level: 248 degrees Fahrenheit, which GHD says is an optimum low styling temperature. While 248 degrees is low compared to other heat tools like straighteners or curling irons, it is on the hotter end for blow-dry brushes, which often offer heat levels closer to 200 (though the highest level on some, like the Revlon, reaches up to 240 degrees). The Duet Blowdry also promises virtually no heat damage. I think this will hugely depend on how delicate your hair is and if you're using a heat protectant as you should be, since you are using a heat tool on your hair and wet hair is especially delicate. While GHD describes this as a wet-to-dry brush, the brand says you can't really create a shape with your hair until it's 80 percent dry, but you can still use the Duet Blowdry to get your hair to that 80 percent point before using it to truly style your hair. Personally, I just wait until my hair is somewhat dry to even start using it, but you might want more drying assistance if you have longer hair. Lovely Locks Photograph: Nena Farrell Whether or not the heat damage claims are true, the blowout itself is fantastic. I'm consistently impressed with how much volume I get without feeling like I'm in a wind tunnel, and I have fewer flyaways than I usually would. My blowout lasts longer, too, looking better than usual on day two or three thanks to the low-frizz results without losing volume or getting oily like my hair does after a serious hair-straightener sesh. Is it worth the splurge? Personally, as someone who uses one of these devices after every hair wash day, it would be worth it for me. It's the best result I've gotten by far. While it is twice the price of a Drybar or T3 blow-dry brush, the less frizz and smoother results that last for days are something I'd splurge on for my everyday tool. However, it is a bummer that for the price, you're only getting a single tool. It makes sense considering the design and technology packed into it that's specifically made for a blowout brush, and thus why it's such a good blowout brush, but other similarly priced options like the Shark FlexStyle (9/10, WIRED Recommends) or FlexFusion have a similar price point and come with multiple attachments. Still, my editor finds she still needs to follow up with a proper flat iron after a blowout with her FlexFusion, while I certainly don't need one after a morning with the Duet Blowdry.
