Stunning New Garden Suites Debut At The Trafalgar St. James, London

On the south west corner of the John Nash designed Trafalgar square, the five-star hotel is ideally placed for art lovers, with free admission to the National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery on the other side of the square. The National Gallery has just unveiled a major refurbishment and rehang of the Sainsbury wing, making it an even better time to see its collection of masterpieces of Western art from Raphael and Leonardo to Cezanne, Turner and Van Gogh. Also nearby is St Martin in the Fields, one of the most famous churches in London, offering wonderful lunchtime and evening classical concerts. The lobby opening into the restaurant and bar feels so much brighter and modern with the renovation. And there are plenty of helpful staff, ensuring that check in is a breeze. The hotel has used innovative lighting company Light Cognitive to create the most realistic lighting effect possible. Light Cognitive used an LED innovation that follows nature's circadian rhythm. The lighting design is claimed to help to improve mood, sleep and health for guests. The warm, sophisticated interiors from from Design LSM (the award-winning studio behind another Hilton property, 100 Queen's Gate and restaurants Cinnamon Bazaar and Gaucho) are from a contrasting palette of bold colors against natural tones of dark oak and rattan. As well as being well away from the bustling Trafalgar Square above, a super comfortable bed and a sleep sound machine ensures a restful night's sleep. The six subterranean Spring Garden suites are in addition to the hotel's 131 bedrooms and suites on the upper floors. Hotel guests can have breakfast at all-day destination, the Rockwell Bistro & Wine Bar. For guests and outside visitors, the Rockwell is an inviting oasis of calm, right on the corner of London's most famous square, a major tourist destination. The menu offers deli-style dishes and small plates for lunch and dinner, including Sussex Wagyu Beef, cured meats and cheeses. Menu highlights include Iberico ham croquetas and an incredibly delicious vegan pasta dish – Cavatelli with cavolo nero pesto, chilli, and Stracciatella cheese that you'd never guess is vegan. The wine list is comprehensive with wines from 15 countries including some of England's finest sparkling wines. ‘I found a way to copy Starbucks' iced pistachio latte recipe for less than £1'
Ever since Dubai chocolate hit our social media feeds, we've been going crazy for all things pistachio – and retailer have been keeping up, launching everything from ice cream to Easter eggs flavoured with the green nut. This includes Starbucks, who launched a new pistachio latte and ice latte recipe at the beginning of this year. It's since come of the menu, but I've found a way to recreate if yourself – and for a whole lot less money. If you have a Nespresso machine, you'll want to try the brand's new limited-edition Pistachio Vanilla Flavour Over Ice original and Vertuo pods, which gives a sweet, moreish twist to your usual coffee. I have a Nespresso Vertuo machine so I first tried the pistachio Vertuo pod simply over ice, topped up with a little oat milk. At £7.50 for a sleeve of 10 pods (so 75p per cup), plus I worked out the rough cost of the amount of oat milk I used (25p), so already you're got yourself a tasty summer drink for less than a quarter of the price of the Starbucks one, which had a starting price of £4.70. You could also make this even cheaper by using original capsules (55p each) and dairy milk. I'm not normally a fan of flavoured coffee but I found this delicious; not as sugary sweet as some of them. However, I wanted to up the pistachio sensation ever further, so I copied Nespresso's iced pistachio vanilla latte recipe – and it took it to another level. The first step was to spread a little pistachio paste around my Nespresso tumbler; I bought this one from Waitrose, and it was hard to resist eating it by the spoonful out of the jar. Next up was lots of ice and a splash of oat milk (I bulk buy this one from Amazon), but using the Aeroccino to froth up some more. Once in the glass, the drink was finished with an 80ml serving of the pistachio Vertuo coffee pod, and – wow – what a drink. Of course, to use Nespresso's pistachio pods you will first need one of their coffee machines; the original machines are hard to come by nowadays but the Vertuo is almost always hugely reduced on Amazon – at the time of writing the Vertuo Pop is down from £107.99 to £59. I think this is good value for the quality of coffee it makes, but if you like you can read my full review here before you decide. The Aeroccino will also set you back £79, but I think that this step could be easily skipped. The Nespresso coffee machine brews six coffee cup sizes - ristretto, espresso 40ml, double espresso 80ml, gran lungo cup 150ml, mug 230ml and large mug 355ml - there will be an option for everyone. It also includes a complimentary welcome set of 12 pods. For eco-friendly shoppers, they will be happy to know that the espresso machine is made from 35% recycled plastic, Nespresso Vertuo pods are made with 85% recycled aluminium and when they are recycled, it may help further decrease the carbon footprint of a cup of coffee. If this isn't what every coffee lover wants however, there are alternatives such as the My Way 2 Cream - Coffee Machine for £99.99 from Tassimo. The machine is said to be a perfect coffee pod machine, designed by Bosch. It also comes with a BRITA filter to ensure the best coffee shop quality coffee is provided every time. Customers shared some reviews of their purchase as one said: 'Delighted with my new Tassimo, so simple to set up and use and fantastic coffee too.' Another said: 'This is the third coffee machine we've bought from Tassimo and this one didn't surprise us. We are guaranteed a lovely cup of coffee every time.' For a slightly cheaper option the Geepas 1.5L Filter Coffee Machine and Coffee Grinder is £34.84 from Debenhams and said to be ideal for brewing up to 12 cups of coffee at once, plus it has an easy-grip handle and drip-free pouring. The Nespresso coffee machine has a 4.1 out of 5 star rating from a total of 916 reviews on Amazon. One shopper wrote: 'A coffee lover's dream come true!' Another said: 'This machine has undoubtedly elevated my coffee-drinking experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy barista-quality coffee at home.' 'This machine has become an essential part of my morning routine! Every cup is rich and full-bodied, whether I'm making a quick espresso or a longer coffee. The flavour is consistently impressive, which makes a big difference in starting my day right,' said another shopper. However, not everyone agreed and some people shared other opinions. One wrote: 'Can't make a mug of coffee with a drip tray attached. Used pod containers too small. Seems to be noisier than larger models.' Another said: 'The coffee machine did not work properly after six months.'
