England win Netball Nations Cup for the first time
After two weeks of competition England have won the Netball Nations Cup for the first time beat South Africa 61-55 in the final as fans watched at London's Copper Box have reached the final of the competition five times since it began in 2012, but they have never won they are 2025's champions. The Copper Box Arena in London was sold out for the nail-biting match. After the first quarter of the game South Africa were in the lead England fought back. Going into the final 15 minutes it was all to play for with only three points separating the two teamsHowever, England pushed forward, eventually winning 61-59. England defender Funmi Fadoju was named Player of the Match, whilst her teammate, goal shooter, Liv Tchine was named Player of the Series. Tchine scored 49 of the goals for England in the final - with 100% accuracy. Liv said: "I was actually shocked but I'm really happy that I was able to do it, and I wouldn't have been able to without the support of the girls, they made it so much easier for me." Earlier in the day on Sunday the third-place play off took place between Uganda and Malawi. Uganda took the win with a score of 50-45.

England have won the Netball Nations Cup for the first time by beating South Africa 61-55 in the Roses had reached the final on five previous occasions since it began in 2012 but they had never won the Africa had beaten England 61-59 in the round-robin stage of the tournament a week Proteas were 15-12 up in the first quarter on Sunday but England fought back to claim victory at a raucous Copper Box Arena in London. Roses goal defence Funmi Fadoju made six deflections, six interceptions and six gains and was named player of the match. The Proteas went down to six players in the third quarter because of suspensions, but they still managed to put pressure on England and were three points behind going into the final 15 minutes. However, even when the Proteas returned to full strength, England's calm and controlled play enabled them to extend their lead and dampen any hopes of a South Africa fightback. Earlier on Sunday, Uganda defeated Malawi 50-45 in the third-place play-off match.

England claimed a 59-48 victory against Uganda to reach the final of the Netball Nations Cup in London. The Roses will face South Africa on Sunday at the Copper Box Arena after they beat Malawi 58-55 earlier on Saturday. England were narrowly defeated 61-59 by the Proteas when the two sides met in the round-robin stage of the competition last week. Jess Thirlby, England's head coach, told Sky Sports her side are "ready" for the final. She added: "It's a nice circle back to see if the learnings from last week, we can apply tomorrow, and I've got real faith in the group." England have never won the Nations Cup despite this being their sixth time reaching the final. The game was level at 42-42 at the start of the final quarter but England scored seven points in a row to go 50-43 up. Uganda could not match the increased tempo and the Roses sealed victory with nine more goals. The England-South Africa final is at 15:00 GMT, while Malawi and Uganda will face each other in the third-place play-off at 13:00.
