What's Driving You Crazy? – Replacing obsolete freeway signs

LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) – The Nevada Dept of Transportation is making progress replacing hundreds of obsolete freeway signs around Las Vegas. It was months ago that the maps on your phone showed US95 was renamed to include I-11, dropping I-515. That was the easy part. The work of replacing actual signs is a much longer process. While many have been changed, NDOT has a lot more to go, focusing this week around the Spaghetti Bowl. To minimize disruptions to traffic, the work is being done between 9pm and 5am. Tonight it'll be the southbound freeway with reduced lanes between Valley View and Rancho, as well as the northbound side for that short stretch from Las Vegas Blvd up to the Spaghetti Bowl. What's Driving You Crazy? – Even small towns have road work

ELY, NV ( KLAS ) – It's not always about the cones and construction in and around Las Vegas. It was standing room only recently in downtown Ely at a Nevada Dept of Transportation public meeting on upcoming road work. At least one person was excited about. Lifelong Elyite Virginia Terry: 'It's going to increase the pride of our downtown. This will bring more and more [business] in.: The head of NDOT, Linda Larkin Thomason, was on hand to talk about the impact of the 'Complete Streets' project: 'Think of every single cone as 'someone has a job, and progress is being made.'' So was Ely's mayor, Nathan Robertson: 'Infrastructure is the one main thing that government can do that's an investment, and the city is proud to be a partner of that.' Just like us 'big city' folk in Las Vegas, drivers in Ely, you have about a year-&-a-half of cones and lane restrictions before the project wraps up. Buckle up, drive carefully – and please put down that phone! You can join the Driving You Crazy conversation: traffic8@ Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. What's Driving You Crazy? – Explaining Nevada's 'Move Over' law

LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) – Because not enough people are following the 'Move Over' law, the Nevada State Police have made a shareable video that explains it. Sgt. Chris Brown says: 'Any time you see flashing lights on the shoulder, you're required to slow down and move over. This law saves lives. We've seen way too many construction workers, troopers, officers, killed because of folks not moving over and slowing down. It only takes a split second for something to go wrong, and then we're in a situation that will change peoples' lives forever. Please respect the lights, respect the cones, and do your part to work with us to help us get home safely.' The 'Move Over' law has been on the books since 2003. In 2017 it was amended to include work crews from the Nevada Dept of Transportation. But as another trooper has said: you should move over for *any vehicle flashing lights on the side of the road. Please share this message. Thanks. Buckle up, drive carefully – and, please put down that phone! What's Driving You Crazy? – A new multi-year road project gives I-15/Trop work a run for it's money

LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) – Whatever you think about three years of cones, closures, detours and delays with the Nevada Dept of Transportation's I-15/Tropicana project, Clark County is here to say, 'hold my beer.' While it may have flown under your #JuniorTrafficBuddy radar, you won't be able to miss the three-year $130million dollar 215 Beltway / Summerlin Pkwy interchange overhaul. The County's project website includes a few before and after renderings – looking northwest from the bletway, looking south at what will be a flyiover ramp from the southbound beltway to eastbound Summerlin Pkwy – and – yes – a pedestrian bridge trail connection over the beltway. So how does that affect you this week? So glad you asked: expect overnight lane restrictions on the beltway between Far Hills and Lake Mead. Between 8pm and 5am, northbound will be down to 1 lane, southbound down to 2 lanes. To learn more about the project, click – – – > HERE. Buckle up, drive carefully – and, please put down that phone!
