Sen. Slotkin says Dem Socialist NYC candidate Mamdani represents 'new generation' of leaders young voters want
Sen. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich., suggested that New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani represents the "new generation" of leaders young Democrats are looking for. From his past condemnations of police to his defense of people using the phrase "Globalize the Intifada," Mamdani's record of far-left statements has put both Republicans and Democrats on high alert. Slotkin spoke to NBC News correspondent Julie Tsirkin after her town hall on Monday night. While Tsirkin noted that the crowd was "overwhelmingly composed of White seniors and older voters," Slotkin made repeated overtures to the economic concerns of young people. "I think this is the existential issue of our time, a shrinking middle class and this idea that young people feel like they've done everything right, and they don't have the same opportunities that their parents had, and they feel frustration about that," Slotkin told the correspondent. "And then the second thing is they want to see a new generation of leadership. I mean, I'm 49 years old, so I'm a good deal older than a lot of our youngest voters, and I'm like the spring chicken in the Senate. So they don't see themselves in elected leadership," she added. Tsirkin also asked if the prominence of the cost of living issue is why Mamdani won such a surprising victory in New York. "Yeah," Slotkin agreed. "I've said very openly that I don't – I never would be called an expert on New York City politics, but the two messages were like a blinking red light. How can you miss them? People are still extremely focused on the cost of living and how they can't get ahead. Still the motivating issue, and then number two, they want that new generation of leadership." "I may not agree with a number of things that Mr. Mamdani is proposing, but it's hard to miss the message of that election, which I think was very similar, frankly, to the election we had in November," she added. "Cost of living is still the biggest issue for people that I talked to."

Former WWE Superstar Returns To The Ring
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. ECW legend Justin Credible has made a return to the wrestling ring, competing in his first singles match in over three years. The former ECW World Champion faced Sycho Simon for Memphis Wrestling in an episode that aired this past weekend. The bout was a No Rules match for the promotion's Heritage Title. This was Credible's first match of any kind since a battle royal appearance in April 2024. Former WWE Star's In-Ring Return Justin Credible's appearance for Memphis Wrestling marks a potential comeback for the veteran, who had teased that 2024 might be his last year in the ring. While his in-ring career has been winding down, he has remained in the public eye, though often for controversial reasons. This new match could signal a desire to have one more run in the business. It is a business that saw him reach the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. From Portuguese Man O' War to ECW Champion Many fans of the Attitude Era will remember Justin Credible's incredible transformation. He began his WWE career in the "New Generation" era as the masked, jockstrap-wearing Aldo Montoya, a comedic babyface character that saw little success. After leaving WWE, he completely reinvented himself in the hardcore environment of Extreme Championship Wrestling. I want to thank @Lauderdale11 & @GCWrestling_ for having me last night in Hartford. Not only is it great for the fans you make a veteran wrestler feel like he has a place in today's business. You guys embody the spirit of pro wrestling 🙏 — Justin Credible (@PJPOLACO) December 4, 2023 As the cocky, cane-wielding Justin Credible, he became one of ECW's top stars. His journey culminated in him winning the ECW World Heavyweight Championship, a feat that would have seemed impossible just a few years prior. He later returned to WWE as part of the X-Factor faction and The Alliance during the Invasion storyline. PHILIPPE HUGUEN/AFP/Getty Images A Controversial Comeback Justin Credible's career and personal life have been marked by well-documented struggles with addiction. In recent years, he has also been at the center of serious allegations from fans and promoters, who have accused him of taking money for bookings and merchandise and then not delivering. More news: WWE Superstar Announces Retirement Match He recently addressed these accusations in a tense video with former WWE star Maven, where he denied the claims, though Maven stated he had evidence to the contrary. This controversy is the backdrop for his return to the ring, a comeback that is complicated by these recent, serious issues. More WWE News: For more on WWE, head to Newsweek Sports.

Air India, Air India Express check fuel control switches in all Boeing aircraft after probe findings
NEW DELHI: Air India has begun inspection of all Boeing aircraft in its fleet following the release of the preliminary report on the Ahmedabad flight crash by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AIIB). The report cited a December 2018 directive from the US-based Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on possible disengagement of fuel control switches in Boeing aircraft. This weekend, Air India initiated checks on the locking mechanisms of all its Boeing 787 aircraft. Its subsidiary, Air India Express, also started inspections of all its Boeing 737s, including its New Generation (NG) models. The DGCA on Monday had also released an order making these checks mandatory. A source said, 'As a precautionary measure, Air India began carrying out checks in the fuel control switches from Saturday. No anomaly has been found in any of them. The airline has 33 Boeings in its fleet with 29 of them presently in operation. The checks on 50 per cent of them have been completed. Four of them are out for long-term maintenance checks and checks will be done on them when they return.' He added, 'We did not expect any of them to have a problem. And no issue has been found.'
